Martha Stewart admits to cheating on ex-husband Andy Stewart in new documentary

Martha Stewart isn’t holding back in her upcoming documentary titled “Martha.”

The 83-year-old self-made billionaire is giving fans an in-depth look into her life and career, including her failed marriages, time spent in prison, and global success that has withstood the test of time.

But one shocking detail in the trailer, which was released by Netflix on Oct. 10, has everyone talking.

At one point during the trailer, Stewart is giving women advice on unfaithful partners when she reveals an affair she had of her own.

“If you’re married and your husband starts to cheat on you, he’s a piece of s–t,” she says before an off-camera producer questions her about her own cheating history.

“Yeah, but I don’t think Andy ever knew about that,” she responded, referring to Andy Stewart.

You can view the trailer below:

Martha and Andy met on a blind date in 1960 while the two were in college. They tied the knot a year later in July 1961 and welcomed their first and only daughter, Alexis Stewart, on Sept. 27, 1965.

The couple initially separated in 1987 before finalizing their divorce in 1990 after nearly 30 years of marriage.

Several outlets, including E! News, reached out to Andy for comment, but haven’t heard anything back.

Stewart was never interested in a ‘cookie-cutter life’

Martha has been on a mission to rebrand her image since being found guilty of multiple felony charges in 2004 in connection to an insider trading investigation.

She spent five months in a federal prison camp before being released the following year.

In the trailer, Martha talks about how she has changed her ways over the past 20 years and even shares some of the mottos she lives by daily.

“The cookie-cutter house and the cookie-cutter life was not for me,” she says in the Netflix doc. “I have two mottos: ‘Learn something new every day’ and ‘When you’re through changing, you’re through.’”

While she admits she “could’ve just been a miserable has-been housewife,” she’s happy that she “didn’t let that happen” to herself and is proud of the decisions she has made.

Martha not opposed to finding another boyfriend

Martha hasn’t publicly dated anyone since splitting with tech billionaire Charles Simonyi in 2008, but she’s not ready to completely give up on the dating scene.

“I know a lot of eligible men,” she said in a 2023 interview with E! News

“I think they really want a woman who will take care of them, so I’m still not quite in the position where I can take care of a man full-time because I work too much,” she added.

Martha went on to admit that “work has taken precedence over the romance.” And while it “would be nice” to have a boyfriend, she says it’s “not the highest priority” and she’d rather focus on her career.

She discusses this struggle in more depth in the Netflix doc, where she questions what’s more important in life: a marriage or a career. She doesn’t know the answer, but she thinks about it often.

And in the event she does enter the dating scene again, she already knows what the perfect date would look like. Unfortunately for her future date, that means helicopter rides and extravagent yachting trips.

Her two biggest red flags: bad breath and a lack of generosity.
