On June 1, a gunman, known now as Michael Louis, opened fire just before 5 p.m. inside a Tulsa hospital. His actions killed four people, including his doctor, and wounded several others.
One of his victims, he knew personally, Tulsa police are now revealed. According to NBC News, the gunman was targeting a doctor who treated him before.
The gunman, who used an AR-15 style rifle in the attack reportedly blamed the doctor for the pain he endured following a back surgery Dr. Preston Phillips performed on him on May 19. Dr. Phillips was one of the four victims killed in the attack.
Michael Louis purchased a gun just three hours before arriving at the hospital looking for his doctor.
According to CNN, Louis reportedly called Dr. Phillips several times after the surgery to complain of his pain and asked for additional treatment. Phillips scheduled an appointment with Louis on Tuesday for treatment.

As reports further revealed, Louis called Dr. Phillips again on Wednesday, just before the shooting began to, again, “complaining of back pain and wanting additional assistance.” Police say they found a letter on Louis’s person that made it clear that he came in with the intent (of) killing Dr. Phillips.”
Tulsa Police Chief Wendell Franklin said in a press conference that the shooter “blamed” Dr. Phillips for his pain. Reports say the shooting occurred on the second floor of the building, known as an orthopedic facility.
The gunman later turned the gun on himself. He died from the self-inflicted gunshot as officers kicked in a stairwell door.
In addition to Dr. Preston Phillips, Dr. Stephanie Husen, Amanda Green, and William Love were also discovered deceased in the medical building on the campus of Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa.
