A man in the United Kingdom was arrested after he reportedly deliberately ran his car into a crowd of pedestrians crossing a street. His actions took the life of a 12-year-old boy on his way home from school.
The 51-year-old man, Terry Glover, has since been arrested, according to Buzzfeed News. Chief Essex Police Superintendent Tracey Harman told reporters that the man was driving a silver Ford Ka around 3:20 p.m. when he struck seven people with the car, including high school students and an older woman.

A statement issued by the Essex Police read, that Glover “was arrested on suspicion of murder, six offences of attempted murder, one offence of causing death by dangerous driving, six offences of causing serious injury by driving, failing to stop at the scene of a collision and driving without insurance.” The statement then continued:
“There is no wider threat to the public at this time, but we continue to ask anyone with information to come forward and assist with our enquiries. We continue to urge media and members of the public not to speculate about this incident or anyone who may have been involved. We would like to thank everyone who shared our social media appeal, and all those who continue to send in valuable information.”
According to Buzzfeed News, the injured victims of the hit and run have been described as two 15-year-old boys, a 13-year-old boy, a 16-year-old girl, a 12-year-old boy and a woman, who has been reported as 53 and 23 years old.
Boy Hit and Killed by Car Has Been Identified
The 12-year-old victim who died due to injuries after being hit by the car has been identified by BBC Essex as Harley Watson. The head of Debden Park High School, where the 12-year-old was a student, confirm that fact and added that “our thoughts are with the family and all those affected.”
Watson’s family issued this statement hours after his passing, “Harley was a good, kind, helpful and lovely boy. We would like to thank everyone for their kind wishes and concern.”
In an additional statement, Detective Chief Inspector Rob Kirby of the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate said, “This has been a truly shocking incident and my deepest sympathies are with all those involved.”
He continued:
“I would like to thank the many members of the public who have called us with information and spoken to our officers, as well as those who provided crucial medical assistance at the scene. I would urge anyone with information, dashcam footage, or who may have seen anything on social media that they think could be crucial, to call us on 101 and quote incident number 726 of 2 December.”
A candlelight vigil has taken place in honor of the boy and the other injured victims, who are all expected to survive their injuries.
