Mady Gosselin Stands Up for Her Family Amid Nasty Online Comments: “Unfollow Me or I’ll Block You”

Mady Gosselin, daughter of Jon and Kate Gosselin of Jon & Kate Plus 8, took to TikTok on Friday to defend her family and denounce all the nasty comments and harmful rhetoric they receive in her comments section. The video has been seen more than 300,000 times and received nearly 30,000 likes.

She opened the video by declaring it would be the ‘singular’ time she speaks on this and that she was only addressing it because it was ‘sending her over the edge.’ She denounced any and all comments about the childhood trauma and healing her siblings went through, adding it’s not anyone’s business.

The Gosselin family rose to prominence in 2005, a little over a year after Kate and Jon Gosselin gave birth to sextuplets – they already had twin daughters, Mady and Cara Gosselin, who were born in 2000. Their family was depicted in a reality television show until 2017, but Kate and Jon divorced in 2009.

The divorce was highly publicized, and both parents were heavily scrutinized for their handling of the situation. While the reality show continued for nearly eight years following the divorce, the co-parents continued to feud, and it put a lot of pressure on the children as they grew up. Now, Mady is speaking out.

In her TikTok video, she talks about how it’s no one’s business what happens behind closed doors, especially if she and her family don’t want it to be their business. She also believes her family being depicted on a TV show shouldn’t dictate her future – or any of her siblings’ futures, for that matter.

“Perpetuating the narrative that we are damaged or that we are crazy child stars or whatever you want to say is extremely harmful, as myself and my siblings are going out into the world and will be functioning members of society with careers,” said Mady Gosselin – a sentiment shared by a lot of reality TV stars.

The 22-year-old – who turns 23 in October – went on to praise her siblings and described them as amazing people. “They are all smart, they are all kind, they’re driven students, they’re working hard, they’re funny, they’re stylish,” she said. It’s the type of stance you would expect an older sibling to take.

Mady Gosselin had a simple message for those that want to spread hateful words on social media – be kinder and practice proper etiquette when interacting with others, especially those you don’t know personally. Just because they’re in the public eye doesn’t mean their entire lives are open to the public.

“What I share on social media is my choice, and you are not entitled to anything more than that. I’m sorry if that’s hard to hear, but that is a boundary that I have set for myself and for what I share on here about my family, and if you can’t respect it, then unfollow me, or I’ll block you,” she added – and she isn’t kidding.

She described the internet today as a ‘free-for-all where you can bully everyone that you see,’ but wants people to think twice before posting something they wouldn’t say to someone’s face. While she knows there’s nothing stopping anyone except for themselves, she wants people to be a little more respectful.

Collin and Hannah have chosen to live with their father following the divorce, while the rest are with their mother.
