One of the former stars of TLC’s Sister Wives, Maddie Brush‘s daughter is officially a one-year-old. Now, the mom is updating her fans on all the blessings Evie has received as she reaches the major milestone.
In the photo, Evie is seen with wraps on her right hand and left foot. As Brush explained in the Instagram post, the toddler is gearing up for some pretty major surgeries that are meant to help improve her mobility and overall quality of life.

Maddie Brush Reveals 1-Year-Old Daughter Is In the Process of Getting a New Foot
As the mom of two revealed last year several weeks after Evie was born, she and her husband, Caleb, ultimately made the decision to be open about the birth defect their baby girl was born with.
“After a lot of consideration, we realized that it’s the best thing for our daughter and there is a chance it may help other parents who may also be struggling. Our beautiful baby daughter Evie has been diagnosed with FATCO syndrome (basically the abbreviation for lots of intense Latin words). It’s a rare medical syndrome where bones in extremities do not fully develop.“
Now, Evie’s upcoming surgeries will hopefully make it easier to live with those abnormalities. Brush revealed that she had learned about the diagnosis during a routine ultrasound at 26 weeks gestation.
Brush admitted that she was originally concerned that by sharing Evie’s diagnosis she “would become the target of mean jokes and cyberbullying.” However, the mom also didn’t want her daughter to think that by not talking about her diagnosis, they were ashamed of “something that makes her all the more special in our eyes.”
As Brush continued in her latest Instagram post, Evie’s surgeon has now “laid the groundwork for her new foot and mobility it will bring, by way of a boyd amputation. Another gave her some extra mobility in her hand, by clipping her webbing she had in her right hand.”

Thankfully, as Brush concluded, Evie is now “home and is recovering beautifully.”
