Teen Mom star Mackenzie McKee lost her mother Angie Douthit to cancer in December 2019, but she still feels her love every day.
Shortly after Douthit’s passing, Mackenzie took to Instagram sharing that while she was on a trip to New York City, she found a note and a wallet from her mom that she had hidden before her death.

In the caption, Mackenzie revealed that New York City was her mom’s favorite place and this was the first time she ever traveled to the city without her by her side. “I have been to New York countless times but never without my momma,” she wrote.

“It was her favorite place and we always had the time of our lives there together,” Mackenzie continued. “This trip was hard. I cried and was lonely but also spent time being thankful for these times with her.”
“I opened my suitcase after arriving and who knows how this wallet got here but it did. Mom, you figured out how to come with me. Thank you.” Mackenzie shared a photo of the handwritten note she found.
It read, “Mickie, I am so proud of you. You are a true overcomer. You made me a better mom. I can’t wait to see all you do in life. Love you to the moon and back, Mom.”
In addition to the note, MacKenzie also found a wallet that included a picture of her mom. The wallet also had a letter to a daughter from a mother printed on it.
The words printed on the wallet said, “To my daughter, I want you to believe deep in your heart that you’re capable of achieving anything you put your mind to, that you will never lose. You either win or learn, just go forth and aim for the skies. I can’t promise to be here for the rest of your life, but I can promise to love you for the rest of mine. Love, Mom.”
Mackenzie’s mom was first diagnosed with cancer in January 2018. She died peacefully, surrounded by family and friends after a hard-fought battle.
