Luca Trapanese, a single father who lives in Naples, Italy, adopted his daughter Alba in 2017 when she was just 13 days old.
Alba, who has Down Syndrome, had been rejected by more than 20 families before Luca stepped up to become her dad. Alba’s mother had put her up for adoption as a result of the challenges that come with a Down Syndrome diagnosis.

Luca Trapanese of Naples adopted Alba when she was 13 days old. She had already been rejected by 20 families.
Luca has been chronicling his adventures as a new dad on Instagram, growing quite a fan base as he posts heartwarming photos of himself and his little girl.
“I felt she was my daughter straight away,” Luca told The Sun. “It was the first time I held a newborn baby. Before that moment, I have always been scared. But, when I first held Alba, I knew I was ready to be her dad.”
Luca stepped into the role of Alba’s father easily after years of experience working with children with disabilities. In 2007, he launched his own charity that supports children with disabilities with socialization.
“Since I was 14 years old, I have volunteered and worked with the disabled so I felt I had the right knowledge and experience,” he told the BBC.
The experience has changed Luca in the best way possible.
“She brought me happiness and a sense of fulfillment,” he told the outlet. “I am proud to be her dad. I wanted her to be my daughter.”
