Lizzo is clarifying her “I QUIT” post.
“When I say ‘I quit,’ I mean I quit giving any negative energy attention,” the singer said in a video posted to Instagram.
She continued, explaining, “What I’m not going to quit is the joy of my life, which is making music, which is connecting to people, cause I know I’m not alone. In no way shape or form, am I the only person experiencing that negative voice that’s louder than the positive.”
“If I can just give one person the inspiration or motivation to stand up for themselves and say they quit letting negative people, negative comments, win then I’ve done even more than I could’ve hoped for. I’m going to keep moving forward and keep being me.”
She then concluded her message by thanking people for the love she received from them. “It means more than you know.
This clarification comes after fans grew concerned for the beloved rapper and singer after she shared a heartbreaking statement on Instagram.
In the statement, Lizzo revealed she can no longer deal with the lies spread about her online. And went on to say she quits.
“I’m getting tired of putting up with being dragged by everyone in my life and on the internet. All I want is to make music and make people happy and help the world be a little better than how I found it,” Lizzo began.
She continued, adding that she’s “starting to feel like the world doesn’t want me in it.”
“I’m constantly up again lies being told about me for clout and views… being the butt of the joke every single time because of how I look… my character being picked apart by people who don’t know me and disrespect my name,” she added.
Lizzo then concluded her statement, writing, “I didn’t sign up for this sh**. I QUIT.”
People in the comments section were quick to let Lizzo know how beloved she really is. “The world actually needs YOU specifically. You are loved. Take your time and heal but don’t quit,” Nick Burroughs wrote.
While actress Sophia Bush added, “All of this. The internet isn’t real life. Protect you. We love you.”
