New details are emerging just one day after “One Direction” singer Liam Payne died of a tragic fall.

According to Pablo Policicchio, the communications director for the Buenos Aires Security Ministry, Payne “jumped from the balcony” of his third-floor CasaSur hotel room in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on Oct. 16, the Associated Press reports.

Police are still investigating the circumstances of his unexpected death. Early reports indicate that he suffered “a fracture at the base of the skull.” He was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

According to the 911 call, which has been translated by multiple outlets, police were notified of a man “under the influence of alcohol and drugs” who may be “in danger” because he’s in a room with a balcony.

The hotel’s chief receptionist was behind the phone call, and quickly grew worried of Payne’s behavior.

The manager insisted that someone be sent “urgently” because they were “afraid he could do something that threatens his life,” according to Sky News, which translated the transcript from La Nacion

It was also reported that Payne was “trashing the entire room” before falling to his death.

Payne was just 31 years old. He leaves behind a 7-year-old son, Bear Grey, whom he shares with ex-girlfriend Cheryl Cole. They started dating in 2016 before ending their relationship in 2018.

Payne had been in Argentina for two weeks prior to his death, according to his social media.

“We’re going to Argentina,” he said in an Instagram Story. “One, because we want to. Two, because we want to. And three, because Niall Horan’s playing down there and I think we might just go and say hello.”

Horan, a former bandmate of Payne’s, was performing at the Movistar Arena in Buenos Aires on Oct. 2.

“It’s been a while since me and Niall have spoken. We’ve got a lot to talk about and I would like to square up a couple things with the boy. No bad vibes or nothing like that but we just need to talk,” Payne added.

Horan and Payne, along with Harry Styles and Zayn Malik, rose to fame in 2010 when their band, “One Direction,” was created on The X-Factor U.K. Payne was considered one of the band’s primary songwriters.

The band broke up in 2016 after Malik stepped away from the group.
