Singer Liam Payne is speaking out against recent “click bait” headlines that question his presence in his son Bear’s life. The former One Direction star is calling out The Daily Mail for publishing an article about his extensive time away from his 3-year-old during the pandemic.
Liam, who shares his son with ex Cheryl Cole, says that his quotes regarding being away from his child during lockdown, from an interview with Tings Magazine, were taken out of context.

“Me and Cheryl decided I should be away for a little bit, it’s not unusual for me to be in and out of his life,” Liam shared with Ting. “He’s a quiet and chill child. He doesn’t worry about things too much.”
After seeing the sensationalized story, the singer hit back on his Instagram page. “Usually I let these things slide but this is completely out of context,” said Liam. “I couldn’t see my son because of the worldwide pandemic that is happening not because I had anything wrong with me like this headline hints at.”
“This interview was done during the first nationwide lockdown at the height of the coronavirus pandemic and I was discussing not being able to see my child which is a difficult time for any parent,” he continued. “I wish sometimes these people would do the research and give context instead of painting people a certain way for click bait.”
