Colorado Rep. Lauren Boebert had quite the week. It all started on Sunday (September 10), when she was thrown out of the Beetlejuice musical at the Buell Theatre inside the Denver Performing Arts Complex in Denver, Colorado due to her erratic, rude, and distracting behavior during the performance.

According to several eyewitnesses, Boebert was with a guest and was seen vaping, singing, using her phone with a flash, and creating a disturbance to others trying to enjoy the show. After several attendees complained about her rude and erratic behavior, staff members decided to escort her out of the theatre.

“It’s true, I did thoroughly enjoy the AMAZING Beetlejuice at the Buell Theatre and I plead guilty to laughing and singing too loud,” she wrote in a post on X (Twitter) two days after the incident. “I genuinely did not recall vaping that evening when I discussed the night’s events with my campaign manager.

Not long after she denied vaping in her X post, a video from inside the theatre was released that proved she was lying. In the video, she can be seen vaping, singing, dancing, taking photos with a flash, and causing a disturbance to those around her – much like the eyewitnesses explained several days prior.

They initially refused to leave the theatre when approached by staff members, but finally made their way to the exit when police were called. It was reported that Lauren Boebert said something along the lines of, “Do you know who I am?” and even threatened to contact the mayor about how she was being treated.

As they headed for the door, Boebert can be seen giving a staff member ‘the finger’ – not the type of behavior we expect out of our politicians. It wasn’t until the video evidence was released that Boebert finally apologized for her behavior and tried to blame it on the fact that she’s going through a divorce.

“The past few days have been difficult and humbling, and I’m truly sorry for the unwanted attention my Sunday evening in Denver has brought to the community,” she wrote in a statement. “While none of my actions or words as a private citizen that night were intended to be malicious or meant to cause harm, the reality is they did and I regret that.”

Lauren Boebert Says Her Behavior Was ‘Unacceptable’

“There’s no perfect blueprint for going through a public and difficult divorce, which over the past few months has made for a challenging personal time for me and my entire family,” she continued – referring to the fact that she filed for divorce from her longtime husband, Jayson Boebert, back in April 2023.

“I’ve tried to handle it with strength and grace as best I can, but I simply fell short of my values on Sunday. That’s unacceptable and I’m sorry,” she concluded. She and her husband have been married since 2005 and share four children together – all of whom are sons. She was 18 years old when they had their first.

The divorce came at a time when their oldest child, Tyler Boebert, welcomed his first child with his girlfriend – making Lauren Boebert a 36-year-old grandmother. It was also around the same time that Tyler failed to appear in court for a car crash in Sept. 2022 that resulted in his friend being injured.

He’s not the only one with a history of not appearing in court. She has been arrested or received a summons at least four times in the past 10 years. In 2016, she spent nearly two hours in jail for not appearing in court after a careless driving incident. She also missed a court date in 2015 for a disorderly conduct charge.
