Last Moments of Naya Rivera’s Life Revealed in Investigative Report
Now, according to the report People has obtained, Josey was able to give investigators a little insight into the last few moments of his mom’s life. Just moments before Rivera would disappear into the water and never surface, Rivera and Josey “counted ‘1, 2, 3’ and jumped off the pontoon boat and into the lake together.”
Sometime after getting into the water, Josey told investigators that Rivera told him to get back into the boat. “She helped him onto the boat and then he then heard [Naya] yell ‘help’ and she put her arm in the air. She then disappeared into the water,” the investigative report reports.
As Mamas Uncut previously reported, Josey was found sometime later, asleep on the boat with his life jacket still on, by employees of the boat rental company who started looking for the pontoon when it was not returned back in time.
However, as the report also states, while Rivera was known to be a good swimmer, she also had a history of vertigo, vertigo that had a history of “getting worse when she entered the water.” “The decedent would have vertigo to the point of vomiting, but she learned to control the symptoms with antihistamines,” according to the report.
According to Naya Rivera’s mom, based on her knowledge of what was supposed to happen that day, Rivera and Josey didn’t initially plan to go swimming or boating. In fact, Rivera’s mom told investigators that as far as she knew Rivera and Josey were supposed to have a barbeque at Lake Piru. It’s unclear why the mother and son’s plans changed, E! News reports.
As the document continues, according to People, Rivera had also been prescribed Adderall for anxiety and she had been taking medication for a sinus infection. The singer “used a marijuana vape pen and she would smoke about a pack of cigarettes per week” as well.
According to her toxicology report, the mom of one had “a therapeutic level of phentermine, low/therapeutic levels of amphetamine and diazepam, caffeine, and a blood alcohol concentration of 0.016%.”
“[Naya’s] cell phone, syringes with a pink fluid substance, identification, and a filled prescription slip for amphetamine was found in [her] purse. Three 12 ounce White Claw alcohol cans were located near [her] purse. One of the cans was empty, one was open and was about 3⁄4 full, and one was unopened. There was a bag with food items on a bench seat near the front of the boat.”
