When you think of celebrities gifting things to their friends and family, you tend to think of lavish, extravagant things. Dinner at a fancy restaurant. Eye-catching jewelry. A new car. A yacht. But some celebrities keep it surprisingly simple and relatable.
Lady Gaga wished her father, Joe Germanotta, a happy Father’s Day with a little something a lot of us just have sitting around in our cupboards: a box of Oreos.

Speaking with FOX Business’s Dagen McDowell, Germanotta said, “My daughter Stefani, you know, aka Lady Gaga, she sent me a box of Oreos. It was a great day.”
Neither Germanotta nor Gaga, whose net worth is estimated to be around $275 million – $300 million, explained whether there is a significance behind the budget-friendly box of cookies, but we trust there’s a meaning there. Or maybe not: Some people really like Oreos!
Germanotta added that his other daughter, Natali Germanotta, planned to take him on a long bike ride as her Father’s Day gift to him.
Gaga has always been very close with her family. In her early days as a pop sensation, she spoke openly about her strong-but-complicated relationship with her father. She even wrote a song, “Speechless,” that was meant to encourage him to get heart surgery he needed but refused to get. He did eventually get the surgery.
More recently, Gaga’s 2016 album Joanne, billed at the time as her most personal yet, laid out some of her family’s history. The album was named after Germanotta’s sister, Joanne, who died from Lupus complications before Gaga was even born. But her death cast a shadow over the Germanotta family and deeply affected Gaga’s father.
While doing press for her most recent album, Chromatica, Gaga revealed that she wrote and recorded Joanne with the goal of making an album for her dad, to heal him. “I made an album for my dad,” she told Zane Lowe earlier this year. “I made a record trying to heal my family’s trauma. Because my dad’s sister, Joanne, passed away when he was 15 years old.” But, she says, the endeavor was ultimately unsuccessful. She added, “No matter what I make, no matter how big I become, no matter how many sold-out stadiums I have, I can’t fix my dad.”
Though the father-daughter duo still may have some issues to work through, it seems they are still strongly bonded. Plus, they now have snacks.
