On May 11, popular YouTubers Kristin and Marcus Johns were riding their bicycles when the noticed a car driving erratically towards them. According to an Instagram shared by Marcus Johns from his hospital bed, it is believed that the car that hit them and then drove off was involved in a robbery.
As Marcus shared, it’s believed that the person responsible for their injuries purposely hit them as a way to distract the police while they were mid-chase. You can listen and read Marcus’ account of the scary accident below:
“Nothing is official yet, but this is what we think has happened: We were on the far side of the road with other bikers and pedestrians. It is a residential neighborhood with multiple stop signs and speed bumps back to back over a short distance. I look down the road and heard an engine revving all the way up and it seemed like in the moment the guy was trying to hit us on purpose. I said to Kris ‘what is this guy doing!?’ He was driving erratically and swerving towards us.”
As Marcus continued, he attempted to swerve out of the driver’s way but whoever was driving the car made it a point to follow where they went. But after impact, Marcus lost consciousness.
“Sadly Kristin was fully conscious and had to watch me unresponsive on the concreate till the ambulance arrived for us. Kristin said we flew about 50 feet from the impact. When I woke up and was trying to explain what happened, I didn’t think people would believe me that I was convinced he was trying to actually kill us. But now it all makes sense if the robbery and police pursuit is officially confirmed.”
Police believe the car was going at least 60 miles-per-hour when it hit them.
Currently, the couple is still recovering from their injuries inside a local LA hospital. As Kristin Johns shared via a tearful video from her hospital bed, she suffered a broken femur, while Marcus also suffered a broken leg. They both needed surgery as a result.
“Praise Jesus,” Marcus continued. “He has a plan for you and after today, me and Kristin were totally reminded of this. Surviving this was nothing short of a miracle.” And Kristin agreed.
“Jesus saved our lives last night.”
Thankfully, the couple seems to be on the mend. As they later revealed on Instagram following their surgeries, in which Kristin needed a metal rod permanently inserted into her leg, she was able to take five full assisted steps two days after her surgery.
The Johns also shared a clip of the first time they were able to see each other since the accident.
As Kristin shared in one of her Instagram stories, they will be able to leave the hospital once they both become more mobile. Both she and Marcus then asked their followers to continue to pray for their recovery.
