Kristin Cavallari says divorcing her NFL quarterback husband was “the best thing” she’s “ever done.” While talking with the hosts of School of Greatness, Cavallari opened up about her children, all of whom she shares with her ex-husband Jay Cutler, “inspire” her to “be the best version” of herself.
“If I’m empty, I have nothing to give them,” she added before elaborating on her relationship with their father. “Being in a relationship where I was really unhappy, that wasn’t going to work for me. And I knew in my gut for a long time that I had to do it.”

“That was the scariest thing I’ve ever done, is get a divorce,” Cavallari said before adding it was also the best thing for her, personally. “What I’ve also realized going through a divorce…even in our most challenging times when we think the world is falling apart, we’re always going to be this sad, everything is going to always be horrible — we get through it.”
“And then we look back and we realize why everything happened. As we get older life starts to make sense,” Kristin Cavallari continued. “Life is really exciting to me now. And I’m just I’m ready for everything that’s coming my way.”
The reality show star and brand owner married Culture back in 2013. The couple share three children together, 9-year-old Camden, 8-year-old Jaxon, and 6-year-old Saylor.
In 2020, following 7 years old marriage, Cavallari filed for divorce from the then-retired quarterback. Jay had retired from football in 2017 with the alleged goal of securing a job in broadcasting.
After Jay fell short of that goal, Page Six reported that Cavallari said the former athlete became a “lazy, unmotivated guy.” Earlier in June, Culter revealed he threw a party when their divorce settlement was finalized.
“I don’t recommend divorce for anybody, let me go ahead and say that. But, it worked out. It worked out for Kristin, it worked out for me. It is what it is,” he said on his podcast.
In response to admitting that he threw a party to celebrate the end of their divorce proceedings, Cavallari fully understood and supported her ex’s actions. “I’ve been partying for two years straight,” she told TMZ.
While Kristin and Jay have both been reportedly tied to other people since their divorce, neither party has gone public with a new love interest. It’s unclear if either Kristin or Jay are dating at the moment.
