There is an ongoing debate about what’s “harder” — being a working parent or a stay-at-home parent. (We’d argue both are wonderful, challenging, beautiful, and hard, and that no choice, no matter how much it’s debated, is perfect.) New mom Kirsten Dunst recently weighed in on the debate, saying that it’s easier to work than be at home with the kids.
Dunst had her first child, Ennis Howard, with fiancé Jesse Plemons in May 2018. She was recently at the Television Critics Association Summer 2019 Press Tour for the new Showtime series, On Becoming a God in Central Florida. In the show, she plays a single mom. She told reporters there that it’s “so much easier” to be at work than at home.
“I’m just tired all the time,” she said. “Also doing the show too, it’s so much easier to go back to work than it is to be a stay at home mom.”
She added: “I was like, ‘bye’ to my mother-in-law [who watches her son while she’s at work]! I was like, [phew!]”.
Dunst recently told GMA News Network that being a mother has been one of her most joyful experiences. “Having that much joy in your life, no matter how you feel, personally, waking up and seeing that face is the best thing in the world,” she told them.
Dunst also shared that, apart from work, she tries to make time for herself as much as possible. “It’s just very tiring. I guess that it really does take a village, it really does. Like, friends come over, ‘Here’s the baby, bye.’ Whenever you have a second to yourself, it’s just like, ‘Here you go. Here you go.’ I never thought I’d be giving him away as much as I do. I’m like, ‘Have him? Yeah!'”
She continued, “We have friends come over to the house all the time, everyone likes to hang out at our house anyway. We’re one of those communal households. So, whenever I have a chance to have time for myself, I do,” she told GMA News Network.
Dunst and Plemmons met on the set of Fargo in 2016 and got engaged the following year.
Still, it seems Dunst is having some fun with the whole motherhood thing, if this recent post is any indication…
