Khloe Kardashian is finally opening up about her ‘chunky’ 9-month-old son, Tatum Thompson – who she shares with Tristan Thompson. For starters, the 38-year-old socialite recently revealed his name for the first time in the Season 3 premiere of The Kardashians, which aired on Hulu on Thursday (May 25).
In the episode, Khloe opened up about the surrogacy process and the challenges that come with it – especially when compared to getting pregnant yourself. While there are certainly benefits to surrogacy, she admitted to having a ‘really hard time accepting the whole process’ – calling it the ‘weirdest thing.’
Khloe went on to explain how she feels ‘less connected’ to Tatum, who she welcomed in July 2022 via surrogacy – opposed to her 5-year-old daughter, True Thompson, who she carried herself. She went on to note how her sister, Kim Kardashian, appeared to have a more positive experience with surrogacy.

Talking to Scott Disick and Khloe about surrogacy, Kim chimed in with her own thoughts on the topic. “I do think there is a difference when your baby is in your belly, the baby actually feels your real heart. Think about it. There’s no one else on this planet that will feel you from the inside like that, your heart.”
Khloe and Kim have experience on both sides of the equation. Khloe had True via natural pregnancy, but welcomed Tatum via surrogacy. For Kim, she gave birth to North and Saint by way of natural pregnancy, but welcomed Chicago and Psalm by way of surrogacy – she shares all four children with Kanye West.
Kim played an essential role in getting Khloe on-board with the surrogacy process after failing to conceive a second child with Tristan Thompson. It didn’t take long for her surrogate to become pregnant, but it came at a troubling time for Khloe and Tristan – one month before his cheating scandal went public.
Their son, Tatum, was conceived in November 2021, but things took a turn for the worse the following month when Khloe learned that Tristan had welcomed a baby with Maralee Nichols in December 2021. Khloe decided to break it off with Tristan – for good – and move forward exclusively as co-parents.
Khloe Kardashian Almost Named Her Son Robert
One of the biggest headlines during the Season 3 premiere of The Kardashians was Khloe Kardashian revealing her son’s name after nine months of keeping it a secret. She previously admitted that it took her some time to pick a name – she wanted to feel the baby out first and get to know him before naming him.
While she has had the name picked out for quite some time now, she decided to hold off on the official reveal until the premiere of Season 3. The reason it took so long for her to make that reveal is because she had no idea the premiere was this far out – otherwise, she would’ve loved to tell everyone sooner.
Now that the name has been revealed, we’re also learning that some family members already gave him a nickname – Tate. According to auntie Kim Kardashian, he looks a lot like their brother, Rob Kardashian, which is fitting because the baby’s middle name is Robert and Khloe was considering it as his first name.

“There was talk about whether it should be Tatum Robert or should it be Robert Tatum. Some in the family were leaning more towards Robert, because it honors her dad and her brother,” one source told the US Sun – adding that Khloe went with Tatum Robert to ensure his first name started with a ‘T,’ like True.
