Kelly Clarkson Comes Clean About Her Weight Loss: ‘I Did Not See That’

After Kelly Clarkson revealed the moment the led to her decision to focus on her weight loss, she is now opening up about how she lost the weight.

While talking with Whoopi Goldberg on her talk show The Kelly Clarkson Show, Clarkson got real about how she lost the weight, something she wasn’t expecting to talk about. “Everybody thinks it’s Ozempic,” Clarkson told Goldberg, “but it’s not. It’s something else.”

While talking about their recent health changes, Clarkson praised Goldberg for how good she looks. “Every time I run into you, you look younger! You’re like Benjamin Button. It’s like crazy every time you walk in!”

Goldberg got honest and said it was the weight she lost. “First of all, it’s all the weight I’ve lost. I’ve lost almost two people,” The View host admitted. “I am doing that wonderful shot that works for folks who need some help, and it’s been really good for me.”

That’s when Clarkson opened up about her weight loss journey too. “Mine is a different one than people assume, but I ended up having to do that too because my bloodwork got so bad.”

Before focusing on their health, Goldberg revealed, “I was 300 lbs.” Kelly added, “My heaviest, I was like 203 [lbs.] And I’m like 5’3 and a half.”

Both of them also admitted to not “noticing” their weight gain. “I never saw it,” Clarkson admitted as Goldberg agreed. “I was never insecure about it.”

If you’ve seen Clarkson lately, the singer and talk show host has lost a significant amount of weight over the last year.

During an earlier episode of her self-named talk show, guest Kevin James took notice of Clarkson’s new appearance telling her how good she’s looking these days. The comment prompted Clarkson to opened up about her decision to focus on her health.

“Well, I was told I was prediabetic,” the singer admitted, adding that she wasn’t surprised by the diagnosis. “I was a tiny bit overweight.”

Clarkson continued, adding that doctors told her she was “prediabetic, you’re right on the borderline. I was like ‘But I’m not there yet,’” she added, jokingly.

Admittedly, Clarkson said it wasn’t until about two years later that she “was ready to do something about it” and decided to finally take charge of her health.

Clarkson continued, telling Goldberg, “My doctor chased me for two years, and I was like, ‘No, I’m afraid of it. I already have thyroid problems. Everybody thinks it’s Ozempic, but it’s not. It’s something else.”

She explained a bit more, adding that the medication helps her body breakdown sugar because it can’t do it on its own.

And while her weight loss has been admired by millions on social media, Clarkson admits that it’s not all that it seems. “There’s a huge difference between being in shape and losing weight — and I am the latter,” she said candidly.

According to the American Diabetes Association, “before people develop type 2 diabetes, they almost always have prediabetes—where blood glucose levels are higher than normal but not yet high enough to be diagnosed as diabetes.”

In January, Kelly told People that she’s been able to lose the weight because she’s “been listening to my doctor” and “I eat a healthy mix.” She admitted that for “a couple years she didn’t” listen to her doctors.

“And 90% of the time I’m really good at it because a protein diet is good for me anyway. I’m a Texas girl, so I like meat — sorry, vegetarians in the world,” adding that “Walking in [New York City] is quite the workout.”
