Turns out not everyone is drinking the Kate Gosselin Kool-Aid over at TLC, the network that made her a star. In fact, Joey Skladany, a former publicist and rep for the network, did not hold back when asked about his experience working with the mom-of-eight.
Speaking to Rob Shuter of Straight Shuter, Joey revealed that he attempted to get off on the right foot with Kate before things went quickly awry.
Kate Gosselin: An Awful Human?
“Everyone warned me that she was difficult — and I said, ‘No. I’ll compliment her,'” said Joey. “At the Today show, I said, ‘Your hair looks gorgeous!’ She wouldn’t even look me in the darn eyes!”
“At the end of the day, I called my boss and said, ‘She’s an awful human.’ They were like, ‘We know. Thank you for your feedback.'”

So not only does Joey have a low opinion of Kate, but it sounds like her bad behavior was no secret to other TLC employees, at least according to him. Ouch.
‘Kate Plus Date’
Meanwhile, Kate is focused on her latest quest for love. After her divorce from Jon Gosselin in 2009, Kate prioritized raising her eight children: Mady and Cara, both 18, and 15-year-old sextuplets Aaden, Collin, Joel, Alexis, Hannah and Leah
According to an interview with People, now that her kids are older, Kate is ready to ready to focus on finding a partner. Of course, she’s doing it the Kate way, via a new TLC reality show called Kate Plus Date. Watch the interview below.
“I don’t know if it was conscious or subconscious,” Kate says. “The feeling of going on dates, if you put it in one word, is vulnerable, and I’ve avoided everything that involves feeling vulnerable. And I now realize that one of those things was dating.”

“Going forward, I’ve learned a lot about myself,” she continues. “I’ve changed, I’ve adapted and I’ve grown up a lot. I’ve become much more self-aware. And almost 10 years later, my kids are all but grown up. So, I’m dating again — finally.”
Here’s hoping Kate’s relationships with the people at TLC are a little more positive this time around!
