Kanye West is reportedly off the hook, according to TMZ. A new release from the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office reveals that the 45-year-old will not be charged after an incident that occurred in late January. At the time, he was the suspect in a battery investigation after an altercation with a woman.
On January 27, TMZ obtained footage of the altercation, which occurred after his daughter’s basketball game. As he was leaving, he noticed several people with their phones and cameras out. Although it’s widely known that he doesn’t like the paparazzi, they didn’t seem to care and filmed him anyway.
West initially told them to stop, but they didn’t. So, he walked up to a woman, who was filming from her car, and told her, “You didn’t have to run up on me like that,” – adding, “If I say stop, stop with your cameras!” The woman defended herself by saying he’s a celebrity and she has a right to film him.

The altercation escalated when Kanye West grabbed the phone out of the woman’s hand and threw it into the street. He then walked over to another member of the paparazzi, but they immediately backed off. That wasn’t all – he also walked over to more members of the paparazzi and confronted them, as well.
“You want me to be running up on your kids’ games like that?” he asked. “Everybody needs to stop when I see my kids. If I need to see my kids, you can’t photograph me. It’s called human rights,” he continued. They, again, defended themselves by saying he was a celebrity and they were on a public street.
The woman who had her phone thrown across the street was later seen speaking with deputies at the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office – at that point, West was named a suspect in a battery investigation. Now nearly six weeks later, it’s being reported that the woman isn’t filing any charges against Kanye West.
Court documents indicate that her phone barely faced any damage after being thrown – largely due to the case it was in, which only had minor damage to it. The news comes about a month after West was seen at the L.A. County Sheriff’s West Hollywood Station, where he spoke to officers about another incident.
Kanye West Continues His Co-Parenting With Kim Kardashian
Kanye West has had quite a tumultuous end to 2022 and start to 2023, but things appear to be heating up between him and his new wife, Bianca Censori. The couple started dating shortly after his divorce with Kim was finalized and had a small wedding in January 2023 – just two months after the public divorce.
While Kim and Kanye continue to have their arguments, their primary focus is on being good co-parents to their four children – North, 9, Saint, 7, Chicago, 5, and Psalm, 3. And now that Kanye has a new ‘boo’ by his side, his children are starting to spend more time with Bianca – a Yeezy architect and employee.
A source close to the situation, according to Entertainment Tonight, recently spoke about the dynamic between Kim and Kanye. Apparently, the former couple are doing better than before. “Kim, ultimately, just wants Kanye to be at peace. So if Bianca helps with that, then it’s fine,” the source told ET recently.
