On July 4, rapper Kanye West, who is married to reality star Kim Kardashian West, announced his run for the presidency. Four days later, on July 8, West talked with Forbes about his plans and where he stands on the hot button issues as he begins his 2020 campaign just four months before the election.
The first thing we learned about West’s bid for President of the United States is that he won’t be running as a Republican or a Democrat. Instead, he will be running under a new party called the Birthday Party “because when we win, it’s everybody’s birthday.”

His advisors will consist of Tesla CEO Elon Musk and his wife. His running mate will be “an obscure vice presidential candidate he’s already chosen,” Michelle Tidball, who is a preacher from Wyoming. He also revealed that he’s no longer in support of current President Donald J. Trump and he doesn’t believe Democratic nominee Joe Biden is “special.”
“I’m not saying Trump’s in my way, he may be a part of my way. And Joe Biden? Like come on man, please. You know? Obama’s special. Trump’s special. We say Kanye West is special. America needs special people that lead. Bill Clinton? Special. Joe Biden’s not special.”
West also admitted that he’s only just registered to vote and has never voted in past elections and that he battled coronavirus in February. His symptoms included experiencing the “chills” and “shaking in his bed.” However, despite falling victim to COVID-19, he also revealed where he stands when it comes to vaccines.
“It’s so many of our children that are being vaccinated and paralyzed. . . . So when they say the way we’re going to fix COVID is with a vaccine, I’m extremely cautious. That’s the mark of the beast. They want to put chips inside of us, they want to do all kinds of things, to make it where we can’t cross the gates of heaven. I’m sorry when I say they, the humans that have the Devil inside them. And the sad thing is that the saddest thing is that we all won’t make it to heaven, that there’ll be some of us that do not make it. Next question.”
West went on to share his stance on abortion as well. He told Forbes that he’s “pro-life because I’m following the word of the Bible.” But went it comes to the major points of his foreign policy, it’s not he’s “developed yet. I’m focused on protecting America, first, with our great military. Let’s focus on ourselves first.”
His answer was similar when it comes to what his proposed tax plan will look like. “I haven’t done enough research on that yet. I will research that with the strongest experts that serve God and come back with the best solution. And that will be my answer for anything that I haven’t researched. I have the earplug in and I’m going to use that earplug.”
At the end of his interview with Forbes, he also revealed his campaign slogan, which is, “Kanye West YES.” As he clarified, it’s “not YEP, not YEAH. YES. YES. YES.”
