On the season premiere of Real Housewives of Atlanta, Kandi Burruss revealed that she was nearly a mom of five.
She and her husband, Todd Tucker, announced in September that they were expecting their second child together and using a surrogate. On the season 12 opener, Burruss shared that the surrogate was pregnant with twins, but lost one of the embryos.

Burruss and Tucker had discussed using a surrogate last season and were considering it after Burruss’ high-risk first pregnancy and history with noncancerous growths in the uterus.
“To allow somebody to carry my child inside of them? It was a tough decision to make,” Burruss revealed during the premiere. “I just feel like this whole situation is strange. I don’t get to be excited about the first kick. I don’t get to be excited about, ‘Oh no my baby bump is showing.’ I don’t get to be excited even about my boobs filling up with milk.”

In addition to the baby, due this month, the couple is parents to Ace, 3. Burruss is also mom to Riley, 16, from a previous relationship, and Tucker is father to Kaela, 22.
Burruss and Tucker are excitedly looking forward to the new baby, but she admits that using a surrogate has been an emotional experience. “You have this guilt [and] sadness. So it’s a joyous, yet interesting experience,” she said.
