Three months after a panel of judges ordered Julie Chrisley be resentenced, she appeared in court.
On Sept. 25, the former reality television star had her 84-month sentence reinstated by a district court judge in Atlanta, Georgia, ruling it was sufficient after she was found guilty of conspiring to defraud community banks out of more than $30 million in fraudulent loans and tax evasion, according to the Associated Press.
Chrisley addressed the court as her daughter Savannah Chrisley, and son Chase Chrisley, watched on.
Through tears, People reports that Julie apologized for her wrongdoings. She also apologized to her family and children for what they’ve had to endure in the aftermath of her sentencing.
As the AP reported, in June, Julie’s sentencing was vacated after a three-judge panel of the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that there was “a legal error” in how Julie’s sentencing was calculated.
According to the judges’ decision, it was found that the trial judge “held her accountable for the entire back fraud scheme.” Her convictions were always upheld.
Prosecutors argued that her original sentence she remain, while Julie’s attorney argued that she should be sentenced to no more than five years, citing her “two youngest children have been struggling in her absence,” the AP reports.
In a podcast episode shared in June Savannah said it was her goal to have her mom home by Thanksgiving. That is no longer a possibility.
Savannah, who has obtained guardianship over her younger siblings, has not publicly reacted to the news of Julie’s reinstated sentencing.
Julie and her husband Todd Chrisley have been in prison since January 2023.
Todd received a 12-year sentence. Additionally, he and Julie were ordered to pay $17.8 million in restitution.
Their accountant, Peter Tarantino, was found guilty of conspiracy to defraud the United States and willfully filing false tax returns.
