Joshua Ray Walker has some good news and not-so-good-news to share with his fans. The good news is that he finished his chemotherapy treatment and, while it was tough, his body handled it ‘reasonably well.’
The not-so-good news is that while doctors were testing him and checking on the status of his cancer, multiple nodes of varying sizes were found in both of his lungs – meaning his cancer started to spread.
The 32-year-old country singer and songwriter first revealed that he was diagnosed with colon cancer in December 2023 and underwent surgery the following month before starting chemotherapy shortly after.

Walker posted the health update on Instagram – sharing a photo of him wearing his signature cowboy hat and jean vest. He thanked his supporters in the caption, but detailed how difficult the diagnosis has been.
Joshua Ray Walker Wasn’t Prepared For Doctor’s Latest Find
In the caption, Joshua Ray Walker claims that he ‘had a 90% chance of having clear tests post treatment,’ but something happened during treatment that resulted in several new growths forming in his two lungs.
“To find completely new growth in a new organ was something for which I was not prepared,” he wrote – adding that it means his cancer will likely be restaged to stage 4 after being diagnosed as stage 3B.
Stage 4 cancer, also known as metastatic cancer, is the most advanced stage of cancer, and means the cancer has spread beyond its original location to other parts of the body – including organs or tissues.
“Wish I had more information to share but I’m still waiting to meet with a radiology oncologist following my biopsy surgery. I will keep y’all as updated as possible, and I will continue to fight my hardest,” he added.
Walker went on to vow to live life to the fullest, as he has always done.
Joshua Ray Walker Launches GoFundMe Campaign
In the final paragraph of his caption, Walker revealed that he created a GoFundMe campaign to help support him and his family during this difficult time – which is affecting him both physically and financially.
“I have a hard time asking for help, even when I believe it will be given happily,” he wrote.
He explains that the proceeds will allow him to ‘focus exclusively on [his] health and relationships during this precious time’ and thanks his fans and followers ‘in advance for their continued love and support.’
The GoFundMe campaign was created three days ago with a goal of raising $300,000. In just 72 hours, Joshua Ray Walker has received more than $66,000 across more than 915 donations from fans.
In the description, he says the money will go towards his ‘cost of living and out-of-pocket health expenses while I continue to fight cancer,’ while also allowing him ‘to be present with family and friends’ throughout.
