Nearly two months after sharing news that his colon cancer had spread to his lungs, country music singer Joshua Ray Walker is sharing another update.
On Oct. 25, Walker took to Instagram saying that he was anxiously awaiting the day he could share the miraculous news with all his supporters.
“Hi y’all, thank you for your patience while I heal,” Walker began. “I’ve been anxious to update you, but I wanted to wait until I was off pain meds and all the most recent scans, tests, and lab results had come back.”
Walker went on to reveal that he is “so excited to share that my pre-surgery diagnosis was incorrect, I’ve beat the odds and to everyone’s complete surprise, my lungs are cancer free!”
Not only are Walker’s lungs cancer free but so is the rest of his body.
“As far as my doctors can tell, there is no discernible amount of cancer anywhere in my body at the moment,” the singer continued. “I am ecstatic, and I couldn’t have done it without y’all’s love and support.”
Walker explained that he “won’t be in remission for another 5 years, and I will have frequent tests and scans done during that time, but for now, my life is not in imminent danger.”
“That’s a crazy thing to say considering the odds I was told I was up against a little over a month ago,” he admitted.
Walker admitted that the last several months had been “an emotional rollercoaster,” adding the recovery from the recent surgery “really kicked my butt.”
He continued, thanking everything for their support. “Your generosity is going to allow me to continue focusing on my health while I monitor my body for cancer and begin building my strength so that I can tour again.”
In September, Walker revealed he had just completed the chemotherapy treatments he began in February. He was initially diagnosed with 3b colon cancer in January 2024.
“It was extremely tough,” he said of the treatments he just endured, “and I want to thank y’all so much for supporting me through this experience. My body handled it reasonably well, and I’ve begun to rebuild my strength and immune system!”
However, after completing chemotherapy, “multiple nodes of varying sizes were found in both my lungs,” Walker explained.
According to the singer, Walker said he “was told I had a 90-percent chance of having clear tests post treatment. So to find completely new growth in a new organ was something for which I was not prepared.”
Walker revealed the news means “my cancer will likely be restaged to stage 4,” and he will undergo a lung biopsy before starting radiation.
