More than a month after Josh Duggar was found guilty of receiving and possessing child pornography, he is asking a federal judge for a new trial or an acquittal.
As Mamas Uncut previously reported, on December 8, a 12-person jury deliberated for nearly 16 hours before finding Josh Duggar guilty on December 9. And this is far from the first time Duggar and his legal team attempted to get the case acquitted. Each time was denied by a judge.
However, this time, as USA Today reports, Duggar is citing that prosecutors “failed to present evidence that Duggar knew that the visual depictions were of a minor engaging in sexually explicit conduct.”

This is an interesting turn of events as Homeland Security Investigations Special Agent Gerald Faulkner testified for the prosecution that one of the files reportedly recovered from Duggar’s work computer revealed the sex abuse of a child ranging from 18 months to 12 years of age.
Faulkner further added that the images were “in the top five of the worst of the worst that I’ve ever had to examine.” It’s unclear what more the defense is looking for.
Josh Duggar Attempts Another Acquittal As Anna Duggar Is Banned From In-Person Jail Visits
Duggar has not yet been sentenced after being found guilty. And it is believed that Anna Duggar has been banned from in-person visits, The U.S. Sun reports.
According to the report, until Duggar is sentenced, Anna is only allowed to communicate with her husband of 13 years via video chats. This decision is reportedly COVID-19 related. Josh’s sentencing hearing has yet to be scheduled.
Currently being held in Washington County Detention Center, Anna can spend 25 cents a minute talking to her husband on video or by paying $5 an email.
Anna, who gave birth to their 7th child in October, has stood by her husband’s side since his April arrest. Since Josh’s guilty verdict, Anna has not issued any form of a statement.
During the investigation, it was revealed that despite the Covenant Eyes software Anna had installed on Duggar’s work computer due to his past porn addictions, Josh was able to sidestep detection because he allegedly used a network that was not registered through the software. As Mamas Uncut previously reported, the Covenant Eyes software was supposed to notify Anna if Josh was looking at things on the internet that he should not be.
Despite the guilty verdict, Josh Duggar continues to maintain his innocence.
