Following the public back and forth Kate and Jon Gosselin had with each other over the allegations that Jon beat one of their sons, Collin, one of their daughters, Hannah, who has lived with Jon for the last couple of years is speaking out.
As Mamas Uncut previously reported, both Jon and Kate spoke out after Jon was reportedly investigated after their son Collin called the police to report that Jon has physically hit and kicked him following an argument. Following the investigation which did not lead to any charges, Kate said she is “horrified that this man is the father of my children. […] As a mother, I am not going to sit quietly and idly by while my child, any of my children, is assaulted by anyone, let alone their own father,” she told People.
Jon Gosselin’s Daughter Hannah Comes to His Defense
Jon then denied that he ever laid hands on his son and claimed that Collin is struggling with PTSD “because [Kate] abused him.” Kate “hasn’t seen Collin in five years and now she’s going to try to come out as the caring mother when in fact the reason Collin is struggling with mental illness is because she abused him,” Jon told the Daily Mail.
Now, Collin’s sister Hannah is speaking in defense of her father. Aside from Collin, Hannah is the only other child who lives with Jon. The other six children live with Kate. In a statement given to the Daily Mail, Hannah was there for the incident that led to their dad being investigated for abuse allegations.
“My dad has been there for me and Collin no matter what. He’s been a very loving and supportive dad throughout everything. Collin is facing many difficult issues and my dad is doing everything in his power to help him. My dad loves us and has never been abusive to us in any way.”
As Jon told the Daily Mail himself, “I really didn’t want to have to come out and talk about this for Collin’s sake, but when Kate is in the media attacking me, calling me a child abuser, I have to defend myself. I love my son and I would never hurt him.”
Jon also explained what went down on September 2 prior to the 911 call. The dad said things escalated after a typical sibling argument that began on the ride home from their dental appointments turned aggressive.
“Collin got very upset and started acting out so I intervened. He started throwing stuff at my car, denting it, and shouting f**k you. I was angry and I confronted him and then he threatened to run away. We’ve had problems with Collin in the past running away and I was worried, he was upset so I restrained him. I didn’t punch or kick him, I restrained him, which he obviously wasn’t happy about. He’s 16, he’s a 16-year-old boy. I restrained him and then I backed away, because you never want to restrain your kids, it’s the most heart-wrenching thing you ever have to do.”
The investigation was dropped within 24 hours. Jon went on to say he’s doing the best he can.
