After Amber Heard Testified That Johnny Depp Allegedly Assaulted Her With a Bottle, His Team Issued a Statement

In both Amber Heard’s testimony and the testimony of the psychologist she hired, Heard claimed that during their relationship, Johnny Depp violently sexually assaulted her with a bottle of alcohol. In Dr. Dawn Hughes’s testimony, she spoke both of this allegation and the allegation that Depp forcibly performed a cavity search on her.

“There was another incident in the Bahamas where, when he got angry, he took his fingers and he put them in her vagina and moved her around violently in the closet,” the doctor told the court. “And, of course, the incident in Australia — one of the most severe instances of sexual violence that Ms. Heard had to endure — when he was beating her and choking her and telling her, ‘I’m going to f—–g kill you. I hate you.’ … He grabbed a bottle that was on the bar and penetrated her with that bottle.”

After Amber Heard Testified That Johnny Depp Allegedly Assaulted Her With a Bottle, His Team Issued a Statement

In Heard’s testimony, she alleged in her own words that, the assault occurred during a particularly vile fight. This was the fight that Depp testified Heard threw a vodka bottle at him and severed his fingertip, BuzzFeed reports.

While Heard said she can’t remember if she threw anything in Depp’s direction she claimed that Depp threw cans and bottles at her and when there was nothing left to throw he started punching the wall she was standing against and ripped off her nightgown.

“I remember being terrified,” Heard testified. “I couldn’t move. I couldn’t go anywhere. I don’t see him anymore. It wasn’t him. It was black. I’ve never been so scared in my life.”

At some point during this fight, Amber accused Depp of bending her backward over a countertop and that’s when she felt “punching” against her pubic bone. She alleged that she first thought it was Depp punching her with his fist but later realized that Depp was allegedly using a bottle to penetrate her.

“I didn’t know if the bottle that he had inside me was broken. I didn’t feel pain,” she continued. “I didn’t feel anything. I looked around and saw so much broken glass that I didn’t know if he would know if it was broken or not.”

She then clarified, per her lawyer’s request, saying, “I can’t believe I have to do this. Johnny had the bottle inside of me and was shoving it inside of me over and over again.”

Following her testimony, Depp’s team issued a statement to People. “As Mr. Depp’s counsel correctly predicted in their opening statements last month, Ms. Heard did indeed deliver ‘the performance of her life’ in her direct examination.”

The statement continued, saying, “While Ms. Heard’s stories have continued to grow new and convenient details, Mr. Depp’s recollections have remained exactly the same throughout the six painful years since her first allegations were made,” Depp’s spokesperson continues. “His truth — the truth — is the same no matter the environment in which it has been presented.”

“The upcoming cross-examination from Mr. Depp’s team will be most telling, and will certainly highlight the many fallacies Ms. Heard has now attempted to pass off as fact throughout her convoluted testimony,” the spokesperson concluded.

Shortly after Depp’s team released their statement, Heard’s team followed suit.  “As evidenced by the statement just released, Mr. Depp’s defamation claim is falling apart so rapidly that his counsel [is] turning from prosecutor to persecutor.”

Heard’s statement, also issued to People, continues to say, “They boast that Mr. Depp’s story has not changed. If so, since he lost the Domestic Violence Restraining Order and he resoundingly lost the libel case in the UK, perhaps he should consider a new strategy rather than the recycled approach of attacking the victim, and refusing to take responsibility for his own conduct. If Mr. Depp was truly innocent, why has he repeatedly apologized to Ms. Heard and promised to put the ‘monster away for good.’”

Heard’s spokesperson added that one of Heard’s “disappointments” is Depp’s “inability to distinguish fact from fiction — a malady which appears to have spread to his legal team. That same team is so panicked they are fighting tooth and nail to prevent compelling evidence and photos from being introduced. Small wonder Mr. Depp does not have the fortitude or courage to even look at Ms. Heard at all throughout the proceedings — as he could not in the UK trial — and, instead he doodles and snickers.”

“Mr. Depp’s behavior in this trial has been as pitiful as it was in their marriage,” the statement continues. “Apparently, they feel they must double-down on their demonstrably losing two-part strategy: distract the jury and demonize the victim.”

In Depp’s earlier testimony, he remained adamant that he never physically abused Heard or any other woman. He is suing Heard for her 2018 op-ed that was published in the Washington Post in which she said she is a victim of domestic abuse. Depp says he had lost out on several jobs due to Heard’s accusations.
