John Travolta added another accomplishment to his long list of talents. The actor, singer, and dancer now has his 737 flying license.
In a video uploaded to YouTube, the Grease actor shared that he had just completed training and received his license. “Okay, so a very proud moment in my aviation history,” he said.
John Travolta Says His 737 License Process Went ‘Very Well.’
“To add to my 747 and 707 licenses, I just received my 737 license, and it went very well,” Travolta shared in the video. It’s important to note that he first got licenses for a jumbo jet, the 747 (a 4 engine passenger jet), and the 707 before getting certified on the more compact, 2-engine 737.
The 68-year-old flying enthusiast has a collection of planes, including a Bombardier Challenger 601, a Boeing 707-138B, and an Eclipse 500, TMZ reported.
He purchased the 707 22 years ago for $77 million, upgrading the interior for another $20M, according to the outlet.
The plane, which usually carries 150 passengers, was completely reconfigured by Travolta to carry just 15 people. It reportedly has two bedrooms onboard and an upgraded bathroom and shower.
The Saturday Night Fever star lives in an aviation community in Florida that has its own runway. When you’re JT, you get to park your planes as most people park cars.
“Okay, JT. Where we going?,” Sammy Hagar commented on the Instagram post. “That big boy will take us about anywhere nonstop. Let it rock.”
“Attaboy captain,” musician, Tommy Lee also congratulated Travolta.
The passion for flying seems to be catching in the Travolta family. The actor’s son, Ben, flies with his dad often.
In 2019, the Pulp Fiction actor shared an image of his, then 8-year-old, son in the cockpit of a very serious-looking plane.
“My son Ben is taking my place! His first A380 @qantas flight,” the proud papa captioned the image of his smiling son.
It’s notable that they were on a Qantas flight as Travolta has been a brand ambassador for the company since 2002.
The Airbus A380 is no small plane. It’s a huge, wide-bodied one that’s the biggest passenger plane in operation. It can easily carry 868 passengers on its main and upper decks.
