Jill Duggar Becomes the First of Her Family to Send Her Child to Kindergarten

Jill Duggar is blazing her own trail when it comes to her children’s education. The former Counting On star and her 18 siblings were homeschooled by her conservative parents, Jim Bob and Michele Duggar

Fans were surprised to learn that Jill had enrolled her oldest son Israel in public kindergarten. The mom-of-two shared a photo of herself, husband Derrick Dillard, and their sons Israel and Samuel, along with the caption, “Look who’s registered for kindergarten!”

Jill, who has been homeschooling her children up until this point, turned to her followers to ask for tips on how to best handle the transition.

“How did you feel when your first went off to kindergarten?” Jill asked. “Any tips?”

Fans were quick to share their encouragement and excitement for her son’s next chapter and many praised her for being the first Duggar to send her child to public school.

“Someone has to be the first and I applaud Jill for choosing something different,” commented one follower.

“This is just too much!!!! He’s too big now!!! He is going to do amazing at Kindergarten!!!” shared another fan. “That first day is hard momma but it gets easier and when he comes home bursting with joy about all the fun he had it makes it easier!”

The Duggar daughter also decided to cut her long hair and get a nose ring, two things that were surprising after being raised in such a conservative family.

Props to Jill for doing what is best for her and her family, and we can’t wait to see the first day of school photos!
