Jill Dillard, formerly known as Jill Duggar, of 19 Kids and Counting fame, is standing up for her choice to be a stay-at-home mom.
The former Counting On star recently took to Instagram to share an anecdote about a particularly hectic day she had at home with her two toddlers, Samuel and Israel.
Duggar wrote, “Back home with these kiddos and they’re back into trouble, haha. Sam emptied nearly a whole roll of toilet paper into the toilet because he wanted the ‘trumpet.’ Love these little guys so much and [I’m] embracing the crazy journey of motherhood because I know this sweet season doesn’t last forever! [It’s] also much easier to handle after getting a kid-free weekend with my hubby Derick Dillard, thanks to Cathy Dillard Byrum. Y’all are the best!”

After the post was made public, one commenter offered up the unsolicited advice that the mom should go back to school or go to work.
Jill Duggar Defends Her Choice to Be a Stay-At-Home Mom
The commenter wrote, “Jesus, Jill put Izzy in school, Sam in daycare and go back to school or work. It’s OKAY to not be a stay at home mom. It’s okay not to like it, but it’s not okay to be constantly overwhelmed and sad. You need to be happy too and if that’s outside the home, that’s okay! You raised your parents kids for enough years at home, you deserve to focus on yourself now.”
The mama defended her choice beautifully, sharing that she actually does enjoy being a stay-at-home-mom.
She responded to the comment saying, “Thanks for being concerned. I do love my current job at home with the boys though and totally get that there will be some crazy times for everyone, no matter if you work at home or outside of the home.” She also added the reminder that social media doesn’t tell the entire story.

“We do reevaluate goals regularly, but we also understand that to everything there is a season and right now although at times it’s stressful, I’m actually quite content with where I’m at. Also keep in mind that social media doesn’t show someone’s entire life.”
While there is no need for a mother to defend her choice to work inside or outside of the home, we’re happy to see Jill standing up for herself and giving everyone a social media a reality check.
