Jessica Simpson, who is no stranger to having her weight scrutinized, is celebrating a major weight loss milestone: She lost 100 pounds less than six months after welcoming her third child, Birdie Mae.
Simpson revealed her impressive weight loss in an Instagram post. In the photo, she is seen wearing a figure-hugging black dress, an oversized black purse, and sunglasses. In short, she looks amazing! But what’s more important is that, according to Simpson, she feels amazing.

“6 months. 100 pounds down (Yes, I tipped the scales at 240),” Simpson captioned the photo.
“My first trip away from #BIRDIEMAE and emotional for many reasons, but so proud to feel like myself again. Even when it felt impossible, I chose to work harder.”
We’re happy that Simpson feels like herself again and felt brave enough to share this update with us (and her 4.8 million other Instagram followers)! Talking about weight, especially when you’ve struggled with it for years, is never an easy thing to do.
Simpson and husband Eric Johnson welcomed their third child, Birdie Mae, in March of this year. Since then, in addition to sharing adorable family photos, Simpson has faced near-endless backlash about every parenting decision she’s made. People have mom-shamed her for posting about breastfeeding, for letting her older daughter dye her hair, and even for the way she had Birdie in a stroller. (Mom-shamers mistakenly thought the baby was in a car seat.)
Simpson has long struggled with her weight. Or, it should be said, her weight has been a topic of discussion in the tabloids for years. After she had her first daughter, Maxwell, in 2012, Simpson’s postpartum weight was heavily scrutinized.
Throughout her most recent pregnancy, Simpson attempted to make light of the topic of her weight and fluctuating body, posting photos of her ankles (which have a tendency to swell when she’s pregnant) with tongue-in-cheek captions.
Seven years (and two more kids) later, it seems Simpson has finally made it back to herself, to a place she feels comfortable. We’re happy for her, but we wish she’d never had to endure the unfair criticisms to begin with.
Regardless, we admire her for working hard to achieve her goals. It’s hard work, as we all know, and hard work should never be discounted. Plus, Jessica, you look amazing!
