Jenna Dewan reveals how early on, parenting was not a cake-walk in the slightest.
Dewan, 40, made an appearance on Monday’s episode of Dear Media’s podcast Dear Gabby where she spoke on the difficulty of being away from ex-husband Channing Tatum in the weeks after giving birth to their daughter Everly, who is now 8-years-old.
Dewan, who also shares 16-month-old son Callum Michael Rebel with fiancé Steve Kazee, said she continued to work and travel with the then-newborn. But Tatum “wasn’t available” due to his work schedule.
“I had to travel with her and at the time, Chan wasn’t available to be with us for the most part. So, it was me, my doula, and Evie all by ourselves traveling at six weeks,” she shared.
“I did have her on set with me constantly. It was just really difficult,” she added. “It was like, I just never stopped. You know, you’re up a couple times in the night and then you’re working all day,” she recalled. “I was breastfeeding, I was pumping, I was without a partner, I mean it was just craziness.”

But when it comes to her second child, Dewan says at the time , she felt “so grounded.”
“Even though the world was crazy, I was home and in this love nest and it was different,” she said of raising baby Callum with Kazee amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Dewan spoke on Callum birth’s last year, revealing he was born via cesarean section to the 20-minute song “Devi Prayer.”
“It’s a very peaceful song,” she said at the time. “It always puts me at ease. I put that on our playlist and I said to Steve, ‘If I ever start to look like I’m getting anxious or if I was having a rough time, just please play that.’ [Callum] was actually born to that song.”

The mother of two shared how first-time father Kazee was “incredible” throughout the pregnancy as well as birth.
“It was incredible to watch the awe in his eyes of experiencing birth for the very first time, and the first time he laid eyes on our son,” Dewan shared. “He was crying the whole time and he cut the umbilical cord. Seeing his transformation of becoming a dad was one of the best things I’ve ever witnessed. It was beautiful.”
She added: “Birth is such a bonding experience, you’re transformed at the end of it.”
