TODAY with Hoda & Jenna looked a little different on Tuesday (August 8) with Hoda Kotb noticeably absent from the show, but she was replaced by Sheinelle Jones – who helped deliver a memorable fourth hour alongside co-host, Jenna Bush Hager. The two hosts had more than enough to talk about.
At one point in the show, Jenna was talking about her 4-year-old son, Hal, who she calls her ‘little man.’ She brought up how she wants to teach him ‘how to feel’ the emotions that run through him – citing a time recently when he ‘looked so nervous at his birthday party.’ Hal recently turned 4 years old on August 2.
Sheinelle was shocked to learn that Hal was 4 already, but it was Jenna’s response that got everyone talking on Tuesday morning. “It’s sort of time for me to have another baby,” she said – to which Sheinelle asked, “Is it time?! Do you want another?!” While the answer was yes, Jenna has to pump the brakes.
During the exchange, Sheinelle Jones was trying to get Jenna Bush Hager to commit to having another baby, but Jenna was hesitant – despite her obvious desire to have one. “I’d like to have another baby,” she said before interjecting Sheinelle and joking that she’s ‘going too far’ by hyping up the conversation.
“Anytime you talk to a woman and she’s (noncommittal about having another child), it’s happening,” Sheinelle claimed. Unfortunately, Jenna had to stick to reality and confirmed that a fourth baby is unlikely for her and her husband, Henry Chase Hager – who apparently put his foot down that three is enough.
“No, no, no, we’re not. We’re not. Henry put his foot down. He says we have three healthy babies. I’m 41 (and) I had a little health stuff (while pregnant) with Hal,” Jenna Bush Hager explained. With that said, Jenna and Sheinelle both agreed that the women ‘have the advantage in that area,’ so you never know.
Sheinelle thinks her husband can be convinced if Jenna plays her cards right, but Jenna argues that she should actually be having a child right now considering it has been four years since she last gave birth – she noted that there’s a three-year difference between each of her three children, so it makes sense).
Jenna Bush Hager Reveals Her Failed Proposal to Henry
On Monday (August 7), Jenna Bush Hager was joined by Justin Sylvester – who was filling in for the absent Hoda Kotb – on TODAY with Hoda & Jenna. At one point during their fourth-hour conversation, Jenna recalled a shocking story that many people didn’t know about her marriage to Henry Chase Hager.
In fact, that marriage almost didn’t happen after Jenna apparently got ahead of herself after three months of dating. The couple had several cocktails during a night out and Henry had just confessed his love to her. So, how did she respond to the confession? She proposed! Unfortunately, it didn’t go as planned.
“He told me he loved me and I’m like, ‘Me too! Let’s get married,’” she explained. Justin had to ask if she was Gemini (she’s a Sagitarrius) because it was so out-of-character for her. She argued that Sagitarrius enjoys adventure, which Justin agreed with – but not to the point of proposing after a few months.

Luckily for the couple, things turned out well and Henry ended up proposing – a real, formal one – three years later after (nervously) asking her father (then-President George W. Bush) for his blessing. The couple got engaged in 2007 and tied the knot on May 10, 2008 – they now have three kids together.
