Jenelle Evans Opens Up After 14-Year-Old Son, Jace, Tried Running Away From Home – Twice

A few days ago, Jenelle Evans posted a video on TikTok that summarized a recent trip to California she took with her husband, David Eason. The two seemed to have a lot of fun on the trip, but the Teen Mom alum was met with some hateful comments from TikTok users – one of which she decided to respond to.

The comment read, “take care of your kids instead of running away to cali tf” – an apparent nod to two recent incidents where her 14-year-old son, Jace, had run away from home. Jenelle Evans, who is not one to shy away from speaking her mind, wasn’t about to let that comment slide without addressing it.

So, she posted a two-minute-long video in response to the comment – urging fans to stop with the hate, especially if they don’t know the full story of what’s going on with her family behind the scenes. “So yeah, let’s talk – there’s a lot of comments going on right now and it’s crazy,” she began her video on TikTok

She goes on to explain that she wasn’t ‘running away to Cali’ – it was a work trip that was planned several months ago – and she had posted the video a week after she returned (so the video was really from a few weeks ago). She also emphasized that her trip to Cali had nothing to do with her son’s recent incidents.

“A lot of my son’s actions is being pinned against me and I’m getting a lot of hate, a lot of comments – it just keeps going and going and going,” she says before talking about her son. “My son has been having a hard time for the past 2-3 years. None of this has gone public because we’re trying to keep his privacy.”

One thing she wants her fans (and haters) to understand is that there was a reason why she regained custody of her son – who had been living with her mother, Barbara Evans, since birth. It wasn’t because Jenelle and Barbara were getting along all of a sudden – even though that’s how Barbara framed it all.

While she isn’t going to detail those reasons in an effort to maintain her son’s privacy, she did have some advice for all the parents out there – monitor your child’s cell phone, especially with all the different apps out there today (she specifically called out Snapchat as a ‘bad’ app for teenagers for obvious reasons).

Jenelle Evans Had to Take Her Son’s Phone Away

In her TikTok video, she admitted to monitoring her son’s cell phone and is glad she did because it can be a bad influence on teenagers. She implied that her son got in trouble with something on his cell phone, which led to her taking her son’s phone away – something that he, like most kids, didn’t respond well to.

She ended her video with a straightforward message. “My son is fine, he’s healthy, and he’s safe,” she said. “Due to my son’s mental health, none of this is going to be shared and I don’t want to really go into detail with anything. So, if you can kindly please give us [and her son] privacy right now, I’d appreciate it.”

Jenelle Evans shares a 14-year-old son, Jace, and an 8-year-old son, Kaiser, with her ex, Nathan Griffin – she also has a 6-year-old daughter, Ensley, with her husband, David Eason. She was granted custody of Jace in March, but there have been two recent incidents where he has allegedly tried to run away.

The first incident happened after he had his cell phone taken away for disciplinary actions at school, while the second incident was nothing more than him going to a nearby gas station without telling his mom. Jenelle Evans’ manager reiterated that ‘the family is fine’ and there is ‘nothing to be worried about.’
