Jenelle Evans, the troubled Teen Mom star, has reportedly lost custody of her three children, Jace, 9, Kaiser, 4 and Ensley, 2, after her husband, David Eason, killed her dog earlier this month.
A judge temporarily ruled that Evans and Eason will not regain custody of the children following the violent incident. The judge made the ruling based on testimony from multiple people over four days. Ultimately, the court felt the couple’s issues put the children at risk, according to TMZ. For the time being, Jace (whom Evans had with ex Andrew Lewis) and Ensley (whom she had with Eason) will be taken care of by Evans’ mother, Barbara Evans, who has frequently appeared on Teen Mom to aid her daughter through legal and personal trouble. Kaiser (whose father is Evans’ ex Nathan Griffith) will stay with Griffith and his paternal grandmother, according to TMZ. Evans and Eason can see their children once a week for one hour with supervision.
In a statement provided to People, Evans’ rep shared, “We have no comment at this time and appreciate the concerns regarding our client and her children. We will continue to cooperate with the court and their decisions.”
This is not the first time 27-year-old Evans has faced legal trouble. Since she first appeared on MTV’s 16 & Pregnant in 2010, she has been arrested nearly twenty times for drug possession, assault, and probation violation, among other crimes. In her personal life, she has also faced turmoil through broken engagements and marriages.
In early May, Eason allegedly shot and killed the dog, Nugget, after it had behaved aggressively towards Ensley. The incident set off a chain of events, including a visit from the local Sheriff’s office to check on the well-being of Kaiser after Griffith called the police. While the home was deemed safe at that time to stay in, the killing of the dog was further investigated and ultimately led to the couple losing custody. During this ordeal, MTV officially severed ties with both Evans and Eason.
While the custody arrangements continue to be worked out, the couple must attend parenting classes, counseling, and weekly drug testing, according to TMZ.
