Earlier this week, former TLC star Jazz Jennings took to Instagram to share some vulnerable information. If you were a fan of her TLC show I Am Jazz, then you already know Jennings has struggled with binge eating for some time.
In her Instagram post, Jazz Jennings admitted that she is still dealing with the disorder and shared a visual of her recent weight gain. She noted that she opted to share the photos in an effort to keep herself accountable.

“As many of you have noticed, over the past few years, I have gained a substantial amount of weight,” Jennings began her statement. “I suffer from binge-eating disorder, a disease in which I’m not only addicted to food, but I eat it in large quantities.”
Jazz Jennings continued to say that binging, mixed with an increase in appetite as a result of some of the medication she is taking, is the reason for her changed appearance. She revealed that in the last two years, she has gained nearly 100 pounds.
But now she is ready for a change. “I’m posting this photo because it’s time for me to address my weight gain and hold myself accountable.”
“I’ve been saying I’m ready to turn over a new leaf, but I’m running out of trees now. I’m ready to take the initiative and create positive changes when it comes to my health and body. I have a fabulous team supporting me, both professionals and family/friends, but at the end of the day, I have to be the one committed toward bettering myself.”
Jennings concluded her statement by adding that she knows she has what it takes to make the necessary changes and lose the weight she needs to lose. She is also preparing to take her followers along on the journey.
Following her Instagram post, in an interview with Yahoo! Life, Jazz Jennings said she created the post in an effort to be transparent. “I think it’s just something that’s been apparent. Like people have seen images of me heavier and I haven’t really discussed how I’ve gained all this weight, why I had gained the weight,” Jennings said.
She was also clear that her weight loss journey isn’t because she doesn’t already love herself. “I love myself and my body every shape and size that I am. You know, even being a bigger girl now, I still love my body and I love being me.”
She later followed up her post with photos of herself and her family going on walks and playing sports in an effort to aid her on her journey. Her brother, Sander, commented on one of her posts wrote, “Going to help you reach your health goals by doing fun siblings sports often.”
