On Sept. 29, fans of the hit reality show ‘Sister Wives’ saw the once polyamorous family continue to fracture.
Currently, all but one of Kody Brown’s wives have left him and began lives of their own. This latest season is showcasing the aftermath of Janelle Brown, Christine Woolley, and Meri Brown’s decisions to leave him.
In the latest episode, Kody said he was over how Janelle and Christine have been talking about him. But the hostility continues.
Specifically, the show showcased Janelle getting upset about the way Kody and his now only wife Robin Brown have raised their children.
As Janelle explained to the cameras, she made it very clear to her six children that their father wouldn’t always be there for them because he had several other wives and kids to tend to as well.
According to Janelle, Kody and Robin failed to raise the kids they share together similarly.
“My kids from the very beginning knew that their dad was not going to always be there,” Janelle explained during the Sept. 29 episode of “Sister Wives.”
“I always felt like Kody and Robyn mismanaged the situation with her children. He couldn’t be away for more than three or four days because (Ariella) just gets so sad or whatever,” Janelle continued.
“I feel like that was poor parenting. Through all history of the family, the other kids did it and they’re fine. They’re well-adjusted adults. I think they’re fine.”
Kody said he would turn to Robyn when Ariella was upset that he was leaving, saying Robyn wanted Ari to express her emotions.
“Ariella was melting down,” Kody recalled. “She grabs my leg and won’t let me leave. And I’m like, ‘Robyn I need you to drag her off me.’”
“And she says, ‘She’s expressing herself. You’re gonna have to take five minutes and let her do it,’” Kody continued, explaining to Ariella that he had other families and kids he needed to care for. “She’s just dragging along my leg screaming, ‘Don’t leave me, Daddy! Don’t leave me.’ And I’m like, ‘Gah lee, man, this is hard.’”
But Robyn said Arielle’s breakdowns never kept Kody from his other wives and kids. “She loves her dad. She wants to be around her dad. Yes,” Robyn said.
“But did it ever stop Kody from going to another mom’s home? No, it didn’t. I wouldn’t have allowed it.”
Throughout the episode, Kody has said he’s “terribly hurt” by what happened between him and his three other wives.
But despite the continued hostility, the fractured family admits they don’t know how to move on and reconcile. “What I’m thinking is with time going on and just a phone call once in a while. These relationships will come back and then I’ll be in full fellowship with my children again,” a struggling Kody said.
