Fans have been holding their breath ever since Jamie Foxx was hospitalized last week due to what was described as a medical complication. The incident happened on April 11 and was revealed by his daughter, Corinne Foxx, on Instagram. At the time, she didn’t provide details about what happened.
Since then, several sources have reported that he continues to recover at a Georgia hospital as doctors search for the cause of his health scare. “He’s OK, thank God. He’s still in the hospital and doctors are running tests but he’s awake and alert. They’re keeping him under observation,” a source told PEOPLE.
Martin Lawrence said Foxx is ‘doing better’ in an interview with Extra after receiving his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. “My prayers go out for him every night and just wishing the best for him, one of the best that we got in Hollywood. Not only one of the best entertainers, but a good person,” he added.

Jamie Foxx Was in Georgia to Film ‘Back in Action’
His health scare came just one day after he was seen filming in Georgia for his upcoming movie Back in Action – which also stars Cameron Diaz in her return to the big screen. It’s important to note that the incident didn’t happen while he was on set and he wasn’t taken to the hospital via an emergency vehicle.
While filming came to a brief halt on April 12 once news of Foxx’s health scare hit the airwaves, but resumed the following day and have continued without Foxx – they’ve used a stunt double and a photo double to replace him in some of the scenes filmed recently. They’re supposed to wrap things up soon.
“We wanted to share that my father, Jamie Foxx, experienced a medical complication yesterday. Luckily, due to quick action and great care, he is already on his way to recovery. We know how beloved he is and appreciate your prayers. The family asks for privacy during this time,” Corinne wrote on April 12.
Foxx has kept himself busy over the past year. Aside from his Back in Action project, he has two films premiering in the next few months – Strays on June 9, 2023, and They Cloned Tyrone on July 21, 2023. He’s also in the midst of filming Groove Tails and is starring in The Burial, God Is a Bullet, and Tin Soldier.
Several friends took to social media in support of Foxx. Van Lathan described him as ‘one of the best, most humble, and cool dudes in the whole town.’ LeBron James tweeted, “Sending my thoughts and prayers to the heavens above to my brother. Get well and back to yourself SOONER THAN LATER!”
