Jade Roper Tolbert had a very unexpected birth experience last week when she was forced to deliver in her own closet. The Bachelor alum, who is married to Tanner Tolbert, shared that she wasn’t prepared to go into labor so quickly and wasn’t able to make it out of the house in time to get to the hospital.
Instead, she sat on the floor in her master bedroom closet and gave birth to a healthy baby boy, Brooks Easton Tolbert, while surrounded by EMTs and firefighters.

Jade shared with TMZ that it was one of the most terrifying moments of her life and that she’s still trying to process what happened.
Tanner told People that Jade’s water broke while they were watching The Bachelorette, though she was still two weeks from her due date.
Jade shared that she had been feeling Braxton-Hicks contractions for a while. Tanner told People that, as a result, “We weren’t shocked that he came early, but we were shocked that he came so fast.”
Jade had taken a bath and was out of the tub, about to get dressed, when she felt the baby coming. “I started pacing in the bathroom and found myself in the closet trying to think about getting clothes on. Then I yelled for Tanner and I was like, ‘Tanner it’s happening now!,’ she shared.
Within minutes “the baby was crowning” while they waited for an ambulance to arrive. Once it got there, it only took one push for the baby to come out.
Jade and Tanner met while filming Bachelor in Paradise and married three years ago. The couple has a nearly two-year-old daughter, Emmy, in addition to their new baby boy.
Yesterday, Jade shared a beautiful, empowering postpartum selfie, in which she can be seen holding her week-old baby Brooks.
