Jada Pinkett Smith Get Called Out By Former Co-Worker After Addressing Will Smith’s Oscar Slap

As Mamas Uncut previously reported, Jada Pinkett Smith used her Facebook Show, Red Table Talk, to address the night her husband, Will Smith, slapped Chris Rock in the face while he was presenting at the Oscar. 

It’s not a secret that the reason why Will Smith slapped Chris Rock in the face was because he was defending his wife, Jada. After all, Rock had just made a joke about Jada starring in the next G.I. Jane movie, referencing her bald head.

Jada has been shaving her head due to her battle with Alopecia. As a result, she used the episode in which she addressed the Oscars slap to talk about the autoimmune disorder and allowed other people who deal with Alopecia to share their stories as well.

However, one actress believes Jada’s address came off as “self-righteous.” While a guest on a recent episode of The Wendy Williams Show, actress Vivica A. Fox broke down in tears while calling out Jada, E! News reports.

Fox and Jada have worked together on several occasions, and so have Will and Fox, and although she says she has respect for Jada and her family, Fox says her statement could have offered more “accountability.” “This is going to be difficult for me. These are my peers,” Fox said before getting emotional.

“I just wish that we could have had a little bit more accountability and for it to not seem so self-righteous on Jada’s part,” Fox continued. “Will Smith was defending her honor.” Fox thought Jada could have been a better partner to Will Smith by taking more accountability for her role in the situation.

“That was the reason he walked onstage and slapped [is] because he felt like his wife had been offended,” Vivica said, adding that she was rooting for Will Smith that night. “I really felt to be a partner to Will Smith, whose career basically took a crumble that night, we were all rooting for Will Smith.” 

“We wanted him to win. Will Smith that night, as far as I was concerned, was going to be crowned this generation’s Sidney Poitier, which is a huge honor.” Nonetheless, Fox says Jada’s statement didn’t cover the full picture or the full “impact” of the slap.

“Let’s not forget that Chris Rock was assaulted—we cannot forget that—for basically telling a joke that I really felt wasn’t that bad,” Fox explained, before adding, “This night was a night of African American and diversity for brown and Black people that now will forever be scarred.”

Smith did ultimately win the Oscar shortly after the altercation took place. However, Smith has since been banned from the Oscars ceremony for the next 10 years as a result of his actions.
