After years of practice and finally making it to the big leagues, it must feel so incredible to watch your child play professional sports, even more so when they have a great game. Recently, Florida Marlins rookie second baseman, Isan Díaz, played his debut game and his father couldn’t have been prouder.
The young Díaz hit a home run during the game, and the video of his father celebrating the triumphant moment is truly heartwarming and spectacular. The whole thing was captured on video, as the elder Díaz was being interviewed at the time by Fox News Florida. Watch the magic happen below.

It was in the middle of the interview that New York Mets pitcher Jacob de Grom threw the pitch which led to the home run. Isan’s dad is seen jumping to his feet with joy. Diaz was running around the bases and high-fiving teammates while his father enthusiastically cheered on his son. (Isan’s dad is very excited [read: loud] in this clip, so make sure to adjust your volume accordingly.)
The elder Díaz ended his celebration and apologized to the interviewer, who took it all in stride. Isan’s dad, though, couldn’t help but talk about the home run a bit more. “We just homered off de Grom?!,” he exclaimed. “That’s a Cy Young winner. We just homered of de Grom in his major league debut. That is unreal.”
The joyful video was shared by ESPN and has received hundreds of thousands of views to date. Though the Marlins didn’t win the game (the Mets beat them 6-2), Diaz’s home run and his dad’s reaction prove that winning moments come in many forms.
