Former United States Women’s Nation Team member Hope Solo is expecting a double rainbow after she and her husband former NFL football player, Jerramy Stevens, experienced a miscarriage earlier last year.
While co-anchoring an episode of beIN Sports USA on December 16, Solo surprised viewers by sharing some of her own good news; she and Jerramy are expecting twins. During a segment called Weekend Winners, Solo joined her fellow co-anchor to say the news publicly for the first time.
“…My husband and I get to practice equality from the very beginning with one boy and one girl. Miniature soccer team on the way.”
Hope Solo Pregnant With Twins Following Devastating Miscarriage
In 2018, Solo learned she was pregnant with twins after she and Jerramy had been trying to start a family for quite some time. In an interview with Elle, the soccer star opened up about her terrifying miscarriage earlier this year.
As the mom-to-be explained it wasn’t until after the miscarriage that they learned they were actually expecting twins. One of those twins was ectopic, she told Elle, and the miscarriage nearly took her life.
According to Mayo Clinic, an ectopic pregnancy “occurs when a fertilized egg implants and grows outside the main cavity of the uterus,” most often in a fallopian tube. As a result of the ectopic pregnancy, one of Solo’s fallopian tubes ruptured, creating heavy bleeding.
Solo said, “The doctor said I was hours from dying. They ended up having to remove my fallopian tube.” The harrowing moment left Solo more vulnerable than she’s ever been.
After opening up about her miscarriage to Elle, Solo said that she was trying in-vitro fertilization to help her and Jerramy get their family started.
Now, Solo and Jerramy have two little rainbow babies to look forward too. And it is clear just how excited Solo is to be a mom, she also took to Instagram to share the big news.
She wrote, “I’m happy to announce that this year for the holidays we will be doubling the size of our family!” And thousands of people could not be more thrilled for the former Olympic gold medalist.
While Solo is due in 2020, it is unclear exactly when Solo is expected to give birth.
