Like so many of us, Hilary Duff was alarmed — which is a nice way of saying “pissed off” — over the long holiday weekend when she encountered groups of people living their best pre-coronavirus lives despite the facts we’re still in the middle of the coronavirus pandemic.
In an Instagram post shared with her 15.3 million followers, Duff unveiled some new family photos and a lengthy caption addressing the “Karens” refusing to wear masks and making life so much harder for the rest of us.

Hilary Duff Addresses ‘Karens’ Who Refuse to Wear a Face Mask
“We took two walks today,” Duff’s caption begins. “Took a family nap. Took a drive. Drove by a raging house party on Mulholland. A**holes. No masks (of course). Girls in bathing suits and louboutins waiting to get in like a line at a club.”
“After [Matthew Koma] and I told Banks she’s too cool to ever need to do that we were steaming…,” she continues. “California is in bad shape (in so many ways) but doesn’t everyone think we all want to go out freely and travel and enjoy summer. It really seems like Americans just don’t care about each other…”
Duff then goes on to speak about the “head scratcher” that is dealing with people who’ve politicized the mask issue. “Somehow this pandemic has turned into a political stance between parties…that’s a head scratcher for me. Other countries have come together in a beautiful way to contain or be Covid free. It’s embarrassing that we are worse than ever because people need to party and Karens won’t wear masks!”
She concluded her caption with a little Kanye West jab by saying, “Oh and I’m running for President.” West had announced (and not for the first time) that he is running for president this year, despite the fact it seems it might not actually be possible for him to do so.
If we needed to choose between a President Duff and a President West… well, we know where our vote would go. It would go to the person who recently spoke out about the importance of wearing masks during a global pandemic, not the person who has Elon Musk’s full-throated support…
Anyway, back to President Duff. As coronavirus cases continue to explode across the country, the CDC continues to recommend that people wear face masks or facial coverings when leaving the house, particularly when going places where others will be and when social distancing gets complicated.
Per the CDC website: “CDC recommends that people wear cloth face coverings in public settings and when around people who don’t live in your household, especially when other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain.”
“Cloth face coverings are most likely to reduce the spread of COVID-19 when they are widely used by people in public settings,” the CDC also states.
So listen to the CDC and to Hilary Duff when they tell you to wear a mask. Don’t be a Karen. Don’t be someone who doesn’t care about your family, your friends, and your community. Wear a mask, and we’ll get through this together. And #VoteDuff2020.
