Shortly after Aaron Carter’s tragic and unexpected passing, one of the first people to publicly offer her condolences was actress Hilary Duff. For all of my 90s kids, you likely recall the brief fling Duff and Carter had when they were young teenagers.
Carter guest stared and sang his hit song, I Want Candy, on Duff’s beloved Disney show, Lizzie McGuire.
Not too long ago, Carter made headlines when he admitted he was in love with Duff although Duff is married and a mother of three. In her original statement following his death, Duff wrote, “For Aaron, I’m deeply sorry that life was so hard for you and that you had to struggle in front of the whole world.”

She continued, saying, “You had a charm that was absolutely effervescent…Boy, did my teenage self love you deeply. Sending love to your family at this time. Rest easy.”
Hilary Duff Slams Claims Written in Aaron Carter’s Unfinished Memoir After Publication Chooses to Publish It Just Days After His Passing
Now, it is being reported that at the time of his passing Aaron Carter was writing a memoir. Although unfinished, what has been written will be published in the coming weeks.
As BuzzFeed reported, excerpts from his unfinished memoir have been leaked to the public. And one of the excerpts mention Duff and Carter’s former relationship.
In the excerpt, reportedly written by Aaron himself, he claims that he and Duff “lost our virginity to each other at a hotel … in LA. I think it was her birthday, maybe her 13th, but I don’t remember. Her friends walked in, and we just yelled at them to get out.”
People began questioning the claim after Aaron also revealed he and Duff started dating on his 13th birthday. Aaron is a little more than a month younger than Hilary.
Duff is now responding to the claims in the book, telling Billboard the information is “uninformed and unverified clickbait.” She continued, “To water down Aaron’s life story to what seems to be unverified clickbait for profit is disgusting. In no way do I condone shedding any light on what is so obviously an uninformed, heartless, money grab.”
“It’s really sad that within a week of Aaron’s death, there’s a publisher that seems to be recklessly pushing a book out to capitalize on this tragedy without taking appropriate time or care to fact check the validity of his work.”
Aaron’s management team thanked Hilary for her candor. “In the few short days following our dear friend’s passing we have been trying to grieve and process while simultaneously having to deal with obscenely disrespectful and unauthorized releases, including an album titled Blacklisted, a single titled ‘Lately,’ and now a book,” his team said, in part.
As Mamas Uncut previously reported, Carter died on November 5, after his housekeeper found him in his bathtub unresponsive. Information from his ongoing death investigation revealed that police allegedly discovered evidence of compressed air canisters and various medications in Carter’s bedroom and bathroom.
Carter was just 34 years old at the time of his passing. He was set to celebrate his 35 birthday in just one month.
Aaron has, for the most part, been quite open about his battle with addiction to substances and huffing. However, his official cause of death has yet to be revealed.
Mamas Uncut will continue to update this report as new information becomes available during this ongoing investigation.
