Heiress to the Hot Pocket Fortune Just Got Slammed With 5 Months in Prison, Joining Others in the College Admissions Bribery Scandal

In the college admission bribery scandal, another parent will be joining the lot, and let’s just say the center of this story is lava hot.

The heiress to the Hot Pockets fortune recently pled guilty in attempting to cheat her daughter’s way in.

Michelle Janavs was sentenced to a mere 5 months in prison for paying $100,000 to Rick Singer in an attempt to aid her two daughters to cheat on college entrance exams. In addition, she agreed to pay another $200K for one of her daughter’s to be set up to appear like a beach volleyball recruit to get admitted to USC.

But prior to hearing her sentence, the judge made it apparent that Janavs had hurt the U.S. system of higher education, while protesters criticized her “untouchable” attitude.

While her lawyers requested zero jail time, the judge was not easily swayed.

Prosecutors recommend 21 months, coining her one of the “most culpable parents” charged in the case who refused to accept responsibility for her actions until clear evidence was provided for her. Unlike other parents who immediately pled guilty, she was also hit with a money-laundering conspiracy charge.

Her defense team argued for over 45 minutes how she is a “generous and selfless” person who is “the rock of her family,” also mentioning the time she dressed up as “The Candy Monster” while visiting kids to talk about childhood hunger.

Janavs’ lawyers had suggested previously how she fell victim to Singer and pointed at her overwhelming history of philanthropy and devotion to her family, urging the judge to not send her to prison.

The Hot Pockets heiress now joins many other parents who will receive time behind bars in the scandal, including Felicity Huffman, who served an astounding 14 days in her deal. Other parents have received sentences ranging from probation to a solid 9 months behind bars. Let’s just hope Janavs’ case cools down and soon!
