Halle Berry Defends Her 6-Year-Old Son After He Wears Heels, Calls it 'Harmless Fun'

Instagram

Actor Halle Berry responded to criticism after she shared a rare video of her 6-year-old son, Maceo-Robert playing in a pair of pumps. A pair of cute pumps, we might add. Maceo-Robert is one of Berry’s two children. She also is mother to Nahla Ariela and she shares both with ex-husband Olivier Martinez.

In the video shared on her Instagram account, her son can be seen clumsily attempting to climb stairs in the shoes. We’re all getting cabin fever to varying degrees these days and the funny video was shared to make light of the situation.

Halle Berry posted the funny video of her son clomping around in heels and faced some backlash from fans.

“#Quarantine Day 12 ????,” the star captioned the Instagram post. The video shows Maceo-Robert loudly stomping around her home and then ascending a staircase which must have been a feat for the inexperienced heel-wearer.

Unfortunately, moms can’t post anything online without getting unwanted feedback. A commenter on the post wrote, “Maybe she doesn’t understand how to parent her children.”

Another wrote, “I hope that’s the daughter.”

And yet another weighed in, “This is a [d*mn] shame this is wur it starts in da home not society dese parent smh.”

She didn’t let the negativity phase her in her responses.

Berry responded to the criticism by writing, “???????????????????????????????? harmless fun. Tryna survive right now. You feel me? ♥️.”

She followed that up with another reply, “It’s tight on these kids right now. Let’s have a laugh and some compassion yawl ! ♥️????????.”

Social distancing has been harder on some than others and Berry gets it.

Many people commented with the same sentiment about ‘losing it’ while on lockdown and Berry shared it writing, “yes we are.!!!!! ????.”

She also posted a photo of herself with a goblet of wine with the caption, “Wine… Because no great story started with a salad.”

We felt that.

The mom had a lot of fun in the replies to the post of her son.

Berry must have been entertained by the comments rather than annoyed because she responded to many of her fans.

When one commenter wrote that they were pleased Berry’s son didn’t injure himself, Berry wrote, “No broken bones ta-day. Thank God. But this quarantine is Real REAL ! ♥️????????.”

Another person made a joke on the post writing, “That all dressed up and no where to go MOOD ????????????????.”

Berry replied, “Oh he got some place he tryna go, but his mama won’t let him ! ????.”

You might have noticed that Berry didn’t show her son’s face in the video.

Last May, Berry appeared on Today and discussed her parenting policy of not showing her children’s faces on social media. She said, “I’ve fought really hard to protect their privacy, and I just want them to have their life and have it be theirs.”

“I just don’t want to plaster them all over the internet. That just doesn’t feel right for me,” she shared. “They’re gonna do that soon enough. That’s gonna be their life when they grow up, and they will choose when that starts.”

We’re so happy Berry is engaging with fans right now. It’s tough being home all the time and many people are feeling especially isolated. By sharing a slice of her home life, Berry is helping fans feel less alone and more connected.
