Gwyneth Paltrow credits her ex-husband for coming up with their eldest’s daughter’s name.
While streaming an Instagram Q&A on Friday, the actress revealed how it was her ex, Chris Martin, who suggested the former couple name their daughter, now 17, Apple.

And when she was asked by a fan how she came up with the name, Paltrow, 49, replied, “Her dad came up with the name and I fell in love with it.”
“I thought it was original and cool,” she added. “I can’t imagine her being called anything else.”
Paltrow shares Apple and son Moses, 16, with Martin, 45, and is also stepmom to her husband Brad Falchuk‘s children, son Brody and daughter Isabella.

Just recently, Paltrow celebrated National Women’s Day by honoring her daughter in a heartfelt tribute to Instagram.
“Happy international women’s day,” Paltrow began.
“I’ve been spending the morning thinking about all of the incredible women I love, who love me back hard. I keep thinking about the women I have known since kindergarten or 7th grade, who are more strongly in my life than almost ever. But today I want to pay tribute to one (technically almost) woman on the cusp of it. This woman gives me hope for the future of sisterhood, and for the future of our planet. And this woman has made me the woman I am today more than anyone else.”

And just last year, Paltrow revealed she almost died while giving birth to her oldest.
While on Dax Shepard and Monica Padman‘s “Armchair Expert” podcast, the 49-year-old Goop founder spoke about undergoing C-sections to have Apple.
And due to “emergency” complications during the first birth, she and Apple almost didn’t survive the delivery, the actress recalled.
“I had two cesareans. My daughter was an emergency. It was crazy. We almost died. It was not good,” she said.
