Innovative singer with colorful personal life, Grimes shared images of her rarely-seen son X Æ A-12 (that’s his name!) to show off his new haircut that was apparently inspired by the TV series, The Last Kingdom.
On Thursday, the “Oblivion” singer shared a series of images of her baby boy sporting a fresh at-home haircut. The first photo showed off the baby’s pseudo-mohawk hairstyle while he played in the bathtub.
Grimes gave her son a fresh look and shared images of his ‘Viking’ haircut on social media.
“Not sure this haircut went well but he’s Viking now,” the singer wrote in text superimposed on an image of her young son playing in the bath. She shares X Æ A-12 with entrepreneur Elon Musk. They welcomed their baby together in early May.
We’ve seen worse amateur haircuts! But, the image left us wondering, why a “Viking”?
As with anything this avant-garde artist shares, we could not get enough. Grimes also shared photos of her in the act as her child plays with his bath time toys.
In addition, she also placed emojis on the photo of swords and hearts, presumably in keeping with the Viking-theme.
“Haircut inspired by The Last Kingdom on Netflix which is a masterpiece,” the singer captioned a final photo of her son along with a bear emoji to obscure the baby’s face and protect his identity.
A blurb for The Last Kingdom reads, “Anglo-Saxons are attacked by Viking forces. Uhtred, born a Saxon but raised by Vikings, finds his loyalties tested as he tries to claim his birthright and help create a new nation.”
Grimes, AKA Claire Elise Boucher, 32, hails from Canada originally but settled in California for the last few years. It’s unclear if she is living with Musk who has announced plans to move to Texas where offices for his companies Tesla and SpaceX operate.
The last we heard from Grimes was in early January when she announced that she had contracted COVID-19 and tested positive for the disease.
She shared a screenshot of her listening to the song “Good Days” from SZA on her Spotify. “Finally got COVID,” she wrote. “Weirdly enjoying the Dayquil fever dream 2021,” she added alongside a plant and fairy emojis.
Musk also shared that he had tested positive. “Am getting wildly different results from different labs, but most likely I have a moderate case of covid,” the carmaker tweeted at the time. “My symptoms are that of a minor cold, which is no surprise since a coronavirus is a type of cold.”

We are glad the star appears to be fully recovered and feel impressed by her “Viking” haircut skills. It was also a joy to see her little baby who she rarely shares images of.
Do as Grimes does and give your kids a mohawk!
