Have you ever dreamed of owning a 1968 Mercury Monterey convertible? What if I were to tell you it was the same convertible Green Day used in their ‘Boulevard of Broken Dreams’ and ‘Holiday’ music videos?
If so, then you’re about to have the opportunity of a lifetime because the band is giving the iconic vehicle away as part of a sweepstakes to help raise money for Make-A-Wish chapters across the United States.
The vehicle has an approximate retail value of $45,000 and will feature custom upholstery, shift knobs, and a detailed interior, the iconic heart-grenade hood ornament, and custom “BRKN DRM” vanity plates.
To help bring the sweepstakes to life, Green Day is partnering with social impact group Propeller and Wheels for Wishes – a nonprofit that directly benefits the Make-A-Wish foundation via vehicle donations.
Here’s what Randy Heiligman, co-founder of Wheels for Wishes, had to say:
“Thanks to Green Day and their immense generosity, Wheels for Wishes will be able to grant hundreds of new wishes through Make-A-Wish chapters across the country,” he said, according to X-Rock 103.9.
He went on to thank Green Day for ‘helping us spread awareness of this sweepstakes and for giving up their iconic 1968 Mercury Monterey Convertible in the name of helping the ‘wish’ kids of Make-A-Wish.’
According to the San Francisco Chronicle, Wheels for Wishes has donated more than $114 million to Make-A-Wish, granting more than 13,600 wishes made by children between the ages of 2 ½ to 18 years.
How to Enter the Convertible Sweepstakes
If you’re hoping to be the ‘Grand Prize winner,’ then don’t worry – it’s easy to enter. But you’ll likely be met by thousands (maybe even millions!) of other entries, so make sure you’re prepared for stiff competition.
You can enter to win by clicking here.
Every dollar donated to Wheels for Wishes amounts to 10 entries. You can donate as much as you’d like, but all donations need to be submitted before the close date – which is on Wednesday, November 6.
Green Day Closing Out ‘The Saviors Tour’ In Early 2025
The sweepstake comes at an exciting time for Green Day – who are currently in the final month of the American leg of their ‘The Saviors Tour,’ which began back on May 30 in Santiago de Compostela, Spain.
The band touched down in France, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Netherlands, England, Scotland, Ireland, and Canada between June and July, but have been touring the United States since early August.
For those who grew up listening to Green Day, the tour is a celebration of the 30th anniversary of Dookie (their debut album) and 20th anniversary of American Idiot (perhaps their most popular album of all-time).
You might even see drummer Tré Cool and bassist Mike Dirnt dress up as Deadpool and Wolverine – something they did in Queens, NY in August to commemorate their song being played in the movie.

If you don’t plan on donating for a chance to win that iconic 1968 Mercury Monterey convertible, you can always support Green Day by showing them some love at one of their upcoming concerts in the US – starting with their concert at Coors Field (Denver, CO) on September 7. You won’t want to miss it!
